Completion of 220 kV Vung Ang Transformer Station project and connection

The Vung Ang 220kV Substation and Connection Project is invested by the Vietnam National Power Transmission Corporation, with the Central Region Power Projects Management Board managing and operating the project on behalf of the investor, and Power Transmission Company 1 taking over operation after completion.

The project was launched in April 2022. The project scope includes a 220kV substation covering an area of 3.3 hectares in Xom Trai residential area, Vung Ang ward; and a 13.42 km connecting power line with 45 stations passing through Vung Ang and Song Tri wards.

The National Power Transmission Corporation successfully coordinated the energization of the 220kV connecting line, thereby completing the entire Vung Ang 220kV Substation and connection project.

To implement the project, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have resolutely directed relevant departments, branches and units to focus on site clearance work to ensure compliance with regulations and hand over clean site to the investor for construction. Accordingly, the 220kV Vung Ang transformer station was energized on September 21, 2025, ready to operate to receive electricity from the Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant to transmit to the national power system.

However, the line connecting to 45 poles is stuck at anchorage 06-08, passing through Du Yen parish cemetery in Tay Yen residential area, Vung Ang ward. Here, a part of the people do not agree and oppose the wire being pulled through this area despite the efforts of dialogue, mobilization and propaganda from the local government.

Under the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the authorities of Vung Ang and Song Tri wards have closely coordinated with departments, branches, and the Provincial Police to mobilize security forces to carry out the work of pulling the 06-08 anchorage rope, thereby bringing the project to the finish line, meeting the set schedule. The mobilization of security forces by Ha Tinh province shows the province's determination in implementing the national key project in the area.

The project's operation will help improve the reliability of electricity supply to the power grid in southern Ha Tinh province and the Vung Ang Economic Zone, contributing to the socio -economic development of the province.

At 11:01 am today (October 25), the National Power Transmission Corporation, the Central Power Project Management Board in coordination with relevant units successfully energized the 220kV connecting line, thereby completing the entire Vung Ang 220kV Transformer Station and connection project. The project's operation helps improve the reliability of power supply to the southern Ha Tinh grid and Vung Ang Economic Zone, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province.
