Having just returned from ASIAD 19 with the Vietnam Olympic team, the duo Dinh Xuan Tien and Tran Nam Hai shone with two goals against U21 Thanh Hoa. U21 SLNA defeated U21 Thanh Hoa with a score of 2-1 in the fourth quarter-final match of the 2023 National U21 Championship final round.
After the opening whistle, U21 Thanh Hoa and U21 SLNA quickly attacked to dominate the game. With the advantage of the audience and home field, the young players from Thanh Hoa had the game in the first minutes. The mobility of Ngoc My and Van Tung helped U21 Thanh Hoa create several dangerous situations approaching the U21 SLNA goal.
Xuan Tien helps U21 SLNA's attack line increase its steel quality
On the other side of the front line, Xuan Tien's return from ASIAD 19 has helped the young Nghe An team's playing style to increase its strength. Most of the U21 SLNA's attacking passes go through the feet of player number 10.
Despite having opportunities, U21 SLNA's attack lacked precision in the first 45 minutes, causing the first half to end in a goalless draw.
In the second half, U21 SLNA was determined to end the match within 90 minutes when they sent "young star" Ho Van Cuong and U23 Vietnam player - Tran Nam Hai onto the field in the first minutes.
Van Cuong's appearance helps U21 SLNA's playing style become more annoying and dangerous, especially the coordination between Van Cuong and Xuan Tien.
Two U23 Vietnam players, Xuan Tien and Nam Hai, scored goals to help U21 SLNA win.
In the 77th minute, Van Cuong dribbled down the sideline and passed the ball back to Xuan Tien, who cushioned the ball to break the deadlock for U21 SLNA. Before that, Xuan Tien also had a tricky shot but hit the post in the 72nd minute.
Then, Tran Nam Hai doubled the gap for U21 SLNA in the 83rd minute when he dribbled past 3 opposing defenders and fired a cannon shot into the net of U21 Thanh Hoa.
It seemed that U21 Thanh Hoa would give up when they were 2 goals behind, but Thanh Hoa fans were excited to see midfielder Nguyen Van Tung - the 2022 Southeast Asian U23 champion - shorten the score to 1-2. Despite trying hard in the remaining minutes, U21 Thanh Hoa still could not equalize and accepted defeat with a score of 1-2.
Captain Dinh Duy scored a double to help U21 Da Nang win 2-0 against Kon Tum
In the third quarter-final match that took place earlier in the day, Vietnam U23 player Pham Dinh Duy scored a double to help Da Nang U21 defeat Kon Tum U21. In which, Dinh Duy opened the scoring in the 77th minute when he dribbled into the penalty area, turned around and shot into the top corner of the goal under pressure from 3 Kon Tum U21 players.
With these two results, U21 PVF-CAND will meet U21 Da Nang in the first semi-final (2:30 p.m.), U21 Hanoi will face U21 SLNA (5 p.m.). Both semi-final matches will take place on September 29 at Thanh Hoa Stadium.
