The U23 Thailand team had a difficult match against U23 Myanmar, with a 0-0 draw in Group C of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
However, coach Thawatchai's team still got a ticket to the semi-finals as the top team in Group C, meeting host U23 Indonesia.

Thus, this is the 5th consecutive time that U23 Thailand has entered the semi-finals of the Southeast Asian youth football tournament. In the previous 4 times, they reached the final 3 times – winning the championship in 2005 at home.
Competing in the semi-finals with U23 Indonesia will not be easy for U23 Thailand.
In addition to the host factor, U23 Indonesia also has naturalized striker Jens Raven - author of 6 goals - and a team that is considered to have high professional quality.
Despite the fact that U23 Indonesia is rated higher, captain Seksan Ratree of U23 Thailand is still confident in reaching the semi-finals of U23 Southeast Asia .
“I feel a little regretful that U23 Thailand did not win,” Seksan said when he was chosen as the best player in the 0-0 draw with U23 Myanmar.
“Anyway, at least we got through the group stage,” Seksan continued. “Personally, I feel excited about having the chance to face Indonesia U23.
I am very happy to have so many fans come to the stadium to cheer me on. All the players want to play in front of a large audience.
From the match with U23 Myanmar, we clearly saw the points that need to be improved. The whole team will adjust together to achieve the best results."

For his part, coach Thawatchai shared : "I am concerned about the team not having much rest, but we are completely ready to face U23 Indonesia" .
Coach Thawatchai said that U23 Thailand had already determined that they would play the semi-final against the host. “I talked to the players about meeting U23 Indonesia, where there are many fans, and that was very good.
U23 Thailand has come here, we are not afraid of any opponent. Meeting the host is a good thing, so we can evaluate ourselves. If we want to win the championship, we must overcome this match.
I think the potential of the players is still there, we can improve. We learn from the problems in the match against U23 Myanmar to become more mature."
Thailand U23 and Indonesia U23 are the two teams that have yet to concede a goal at this year's Southeast Asian U23 football tournament. This makes the encounter at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium even more interesting.
A large crowd is expected to come to the stadium (8:00 p.m. on July 25) – 27,013 people were present at the match between U23 Indonesia and U23 Malaysia , drawing 0-0.
Before that, at 4:00 p.m. on July 25, U23 Vietnam continued its journey to defend the Southeast Asian championship title with a semi-final match against U23 Philippines.
