U23 Vietnam identifies opponents at Doha Cup 2023

Vietnam U23 will meet Iraq U23 at 2:45 a.m. on March 22 at Al-Gharafa Stadium. Vietnam U23's second match will be against UAE U23 at 0:30 a.m. on March 25 at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

According to the format of the Doha Cup, each team plays 3 matches. After the first 2 rounds, the teams are ranked based on their results to be paired in the final round on March 28.

Doha Cup 2023 is a high-quality friendly tournament with the participation of teams from UAE, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Iraq and Qatar. This is an important training trip for U23 Vietnam before the 32nd SEA Games, in a situation where coach Philippe Troussier only has 2 months to prepare.

The players who said goodbye to U23 Vietnam after the recent period were goalkeeper Nguyen Duy Dung, defenders Le Van Thanh, Phan Du Hoc, Nguyen Huu Thuc, midfielders Ngo Duc Hoang, Huynh Cong Den, Dang Quang Tu, Bui Ngoc Long, Nguyen Anh Tu, Nguyen Van Tung, Nguyen Thanh Khoi, strikers Tay Van Toan, Ngo Van Luong.

With U20 Vietnam eliminated right after the group stage of the 2023 AFC U20 Championship, it is very likely that some quality names such as Quoc Viet, Van Khang, Van Truong or Vi Hao will be called up to the U23 Vietnam team. In fact, these players have all been named at the U23 Vietnam level under coach Park Hang Seo.
