Previously, on August 28, the Ministry of Health issued an official dispatch on strengthening control of the production, trading, and advertising of nutritional products for infants, feeding bottles, and pacifiers. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued an official dispatch directing departments, branches, and localities to strengthen management and inspection of this field.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Food Safety to strengthen control over the issuance of certificates of food safety qualified facilities, receive registration of product declarations, and advertising content of nutritional products for children in accordance with regulations.

At the same time, preside over and coordinate with departments, branches and People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones to comprehensively inspect production, business, advertising and communication activities related to the above products.

From there, it will be the basis for strictly handling violations and promptly reporting serious cases to the Ministry of Health (Department of Food Safety) for coordinated handling.

The Department of Health is assigned to guide, organize counseling, nutrition, and health care for mothers and children. At the same time, guide medical facilities, production, and business to comply with regulations and decrees.

The Department of Industry and Trade presides over and coordinates inspections to prevent and combat fake and poor-quality food and commercial fraud in the market for processed milk products, utensils, and food packaging and storage materials.

The Department of Science and Technology is assigned to organize guidance and inspection of compliance with technical regulations, survey product quality and warn of safety risks, coordinate inspection of goods quality and manage product traceability.

The Department of Culture and Sports will review and manage the reception and processing of advertising product notification dossiers, provide guidance in accordance with regulations, and supervise advertising activities in newspapers, publications, and advertising media.

Local People's Committees review and coordinate inspection of production, business and advertising activities and promote propaganda and education about the benefits of breastfeeding.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, localities and units with difficulties and problems beyond their authority should report to the Department of Food Safety for synthesis, consultation, and proposal to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for direction and resolution.
