According to the state news agency of Ukraine (Ukrinform), President of Ukraine Zelensky wrote on social media that the country's army had captured soldiers of a third party in the Kursk region. These are two soldiers who survived despite being wounded and were brought to Kiev, currently being questioned by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Previously, on December 29, Yonhap news agency quoted South Korean intelligence confirming that "a North Korean soldier" was captured by Ukraine while fighting in the Kursk region in western Russia.

South Korea's intelligence agency has officially said, "Through real-time information shared by an intelligence organization of a friendly country, we have confirmed that a North Korean soldier has been captured. We are planning to carefully check the next developments."

The confirmation was made by South Korea after on December 26, the Militarnyi channel, which specializes in providing military information for Ukraine, said that Ukrainian special forces had captured the North Korean soldier while they were conducting operations in Kursk.

According to Militarnyi, this is the first time Ukraine has captured "a North Korean soldier" in combat.

According to South Korean officials, so far, about 11,000 North Korean soldiers have been mobilized to Russia to fight in the Kursk region.

So far, Russia has neither confirmed nor denied the presence of North Korean troops on its territory.

Pyongyang has dismissed the reports in Western and South Korean media as "fake news" but a North Korean official said any such deployment would be "legitimate".
