In his latest statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the Russian people and military personnel after Moscow launched an attack with Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missiles with hypersonic glide vehicles against Ukraine. This was in response to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacking Russian territory earlier with weapons provided by the West.
The Russian President confirmed that on November 19 and 21, the AFU attacked the Bryansk and Kursk regions with ATACMS, Storm Shadow and HIMARS missiles produced by the US and the UK. President Putin emphasized that the air defense system repelled the attacks and the enemy's intended targets were protected.

“In response to the use of long-range weapons by the United States and Great Britain, on November 21, the Russian Armed Forces conducted a combined strike on one of the positions of the Ukrainian military- industrial complex. One of Russia’s newest medium-range missile systems was tested in combat conditions. In this case, it was a ballistic missile equipped with a non-nuclear hypersonic warhead. Our rocket scientists call it “Oreshnik,” Putin said. The Russian leader said that the strike was successful and all the set goals were achieved.
Oreshnik's first target was the Yuzhmash Plant.
The target for the Russian military's new missile is the Southern Machine-Building Plant (Yuzhmash) in the Dnepropetrovsk region.
Military expert Yuri Knutov explained that Russia chose Yuzhmash because the unit is serving in the AFU's weapons production. Neptune cruise missiles and Grom-2 combat engineering missiles are currently being produced from the plant's workshops for later strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation. Knutov also noted that Yuzhmash has underground workshops that are virtually indestructible by conventional missiles.
The West is invited to evaluate the “supersonic fist”
The West should reconsider its military plans after the launch of the Oreshnik missile, said Dmitry Belik, deputy speaker of the Russian State Duma. The Russian lawmaker noted that by attacking Ukraine with new weapons, Moscow had shown the West “what a hypersonic fist looks like.” At the same time, Belik added that “Russia’s arm of power has been extended.”
“In different historical eras, we lived in peace with them only after a good fight or after deterrent actions, and today's era is no exception,” Dmitry Belik said.
“We have long understood that the best relationship with Western alliances is when they perceive the danger to themselves, not to their proxy armies,” the politician said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev warned the West after the Oreshnik missile attack: “Is this what you wanted? Yes, that is what you got!”
Matthew Saville, director of military science at the London-based Royal United Services Institute for Defence Studies, said that by launching the Oreshnik missile, Russia was sending a tough signal to the West: “This is a signal to the West, not to Ukraine: We are happy to enter the intermediate-range ballistic missile competition. Do you really want to take that risk?'”
AFU flees in Kurakhove
The Readovka channel reported that the daring operations of Russian assault groups forced the AFU to flee from the Kurakhove center.
In response to the AFU’s new attempt to resist the Kurakhove offensive, the Russians responded with a sharp countermeasure. On the northern shore, Russian troops quickly crossed the reservoir in boats and landed in the AFU’s rear. This unexpected action caused the AFU defense to collapse and flee.
According to Rybar channel, on the Kurakhove side, the Russian army continued to successfully attack and control 3 areas, isolating the AFU garrison in the city.
On the northern flank, Moscow forces controlled most of Novodmitrivka and held about half of Sontsovka. The next target would be Stari Ternу.
On the northern shore of the reservoir, the Russian 5th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade captured Nova Ilyinka and, participating in the battles at Berestky, advanced to Stari Ternу, thereby opening a bypass behind enemy positions in the center of Kurakhove.
Russian forces also raised a flag at the Marinka power distribution station near Zaporizhia Avenue.
Unconfirmed reports say battles are taking place in the center of Kurakhove near the Nova Ilyinka bridge. To the southeast, assault groups are advancing along Dolgaya Gully, opening the way to the southern outskirts of the city.
To the south, the Russians finally took control of Dalnie with the 102nd Regiment of the 150th Motor Rifle Division of the 8th Combined Army.
At the same time, on the southern flank in the direction of Bohoyavlenka, a successful attack by a shock group of the 39th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade was recorded. To the west, the control zone was expanded in the fields near Maksymivka and along the Russian highway 0510, which prompted the AFU to launch counterattacks and artillery fire to restrain the offensive.
