Russian Defense Ministry confirms new victory

On October 8, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the Russian army had taken control of two villages in the direction of Kurakhovo and Ugledar.

According to the official report of the Russian military, the assault groups of the Southern Forces (Russia) after taking control of the village of Zhelannoe Vtoroe continued to Zoryanoe Pervoe and took control. This is a settlement located in the northeastern suburbs of Zoryanoe.

Currently, Russian forces are rapidly launching attacks in the direction of Kurakhovo. After fierce clashes, the Russian army has inflicted heavy losses on the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Nevelskoe region and surrounded the Gornyak-Kurakhovka urban area.

The second village that Russian troops took control of was Zolotaya Niva, a strategically located village west of Ugledar and Prechistovka. The Russian Marines launched an offensive on October 6, and the first reports from the field confirming control of this important area came on October 7.

On October 8, in an official report, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that it had completed "cleanup operations" in the village.

The relentless and relentless Russian attacks have forced the Ukrainian Armed Forces to retreat from one stronghold to another. The speed of the Russian advance in Donbass has left the Ukrainian Armed Forces with no time to build up defenses and fight for each town or village. This has forced the Ukrainian forces to retreat further west to gain more time to build up defenses to stop the Russian advance.

A Ukrainian base was hit by a Russian missile in Pavlograd.

On October 7, the Russian Defense Ministry also confirmed information about a missile attack on the position of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the city of Pavlograd. The attack was carried out using the Iskander ballistic missile system.

Last week, the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade reportedly suffered heavy losses in the battle for Ugledar, forcing them to abandon the heavily fortified Donbass town. The soldiers were withdrawn to an industrial zone in Pavlograd, about 100km west of Pokrovsk, another frontline flashpoint.

The Russian Defense Ministry also released a 20-second video of the attack on the 72nd Brigade base. The video was taken by a reconnaissance drone using night vision mode. The images show the precise attack causing a building to burst into flames upon impact.

Also on Monday, Ukrainian media reported that the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade has a new commanding officer, Colonel Alexander Okhrimenko. The new commander of the 72nd Brigade was previously the commander of the 14th Mechanized Brigade.

The Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile was actively used by the Russian army in the Ukraine conflict and is considered an effective and powerful weapon. As a tactical attack weapon, the Iskander-M missile complex can fire at two different targets within 1 minute. The Iskander-M missile weighs 3.8 tons and carries a 480kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead. One of the highlights that makes the Iskander a formidable missile is its ability to fly in an unconventional trajectory and the missile is controlled throughout the entire flight. This makes the Iskander very difficult to intercept.

"Iskander-M can hit targets at a distance of 500km, with a deviation of 5 meters from the target center. Therefore, the effectiveness of Iskander-M is recognized everywhere in the West," Viktor Litovkin, a former member of the Russian Armed Forces and now a military journalist, told Sputnik.
