Develop unique tourism products

According to Ms. Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the tourism industry is shifting from breadth to depth. In October, the Department implemented a plan to build a night experience tourism product at the special national relic Soc Temple (Soc Son) and a community tourism model associated with the traditional culture of ethnic minorities in Yen Xuan commune. These are two products expected to create a new mark, contributing to extending the length of stay and increasing spending of tourists.

State management work was deployed synchronously. In October, the Hanoi Department of Tourism submitted to the City People's Committee many important documents, including Submission No. 61/TTr-SDL on economic and technical standards for public services in the tourism sector. The Department also issued a plan to update accommodation facilities data, deploy the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" in the tourism sector, supplement the tourism development plan for 2026 and propose to host the National Tourism Year 2026.

Hanoi also expanded cooperation with the provinces in the Southwest region through the 2025 Tourism Development Cooperation and Promotion Program, affirming its role as a regional linkage center in national tourism development. Many training and capacity building activities for the community were implemented, especially at community tourism destinations such as Muong Coc (My Duc), helping people become the main actors in sustainable tourism development.

The average occupancy rate of hotels reached nearly 60%, clearly reflecting the revival of accommodation activities. The whole city currently has 3,761 accommodation establishments with more than 71,000 rooms, of which 85 hotels are ranked from 1 to 5 stars. Along with that, 58 standard dining, shopping, entertainment and health care establishments are contributing to perfecting the service system, helping visitors have a more complete experience when coming to Hanoi.

Travel agencies continue to play a key role in connecting the market and creating new customer streams. As of mid-October, Hanoi had 2,687 travel agencies, including 2,101 international ones, along with more than 9,500 tour guides operating - a testament to the vitality of the capital's tourism ecosystem.

In October 2025, Hanoi is estimated to welcome 2.27 million visitors, including 695,000 international visitors, an increase of 17.8% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists reached nearly VND 9,930 billion, an increase of 11.9%. In the 10 months, the number of visitors to Hanoi is estimated at 28.22 million, including 6.17 million international visitors.

Promote promotion and digital transformation

Tourism promotion and advertising activities continue to be promoted with dozens of articles, reports, and news spreading the image of Hanoi on major media channels. The communication campaign "Convergence of Essence" launched in October has created a positive effect, promoting three typical tourism products of Hanoi, combining cultural, creative and experiential elements.

The vibrant festival atmosphere also contributed to enhancing the attractiveness of tourism in the capital. The World Culture Festival in Hanoi attracted more than 1 million visitors, along with the programs "Vietnamese Ao Dai", "World Culture Day", "Hanoi Autumn Festival", affirming Hanoi's brand as an "event city". On social networks, the official Facebook page of the Hanoi Department of Tourism attracted more than 6,000 followers, with 26 posts in October spreading the message of green, creative and integrated tourism.

Digital transformation is taking place strongly. Hanoi Department of Tourism has coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology to promote innovation, science and technology tasks and the "Digital Education for the People" movement, contributing to the digitalization of industry data, improving management efficiency and convenience for tourists and businesses.

According to Ms. Dang Huong Giang, November 2025 is identified as the key time of the year, when Hanoi enters the peak tourist season. The Department of Tourism will organize the Hanoi Autumn Festival, the 2025 Ao Dai Festival, along with survey programs connecting destinations between travel agencies and localities. In particular, the project to innovate the management model, preserve and promote the value of the special national relic site of Huong Son (Huong Pagoda) will be submitted to the City People's Committee for consideration and approval - promising to create a turning point in the development of spiritual and ecological tourism.

New products such as Soc Temple night tour, agricultural tourism in Bat Trang and Ung Thien, community tourism in Yen Xuan are being completed to soon launch to tourists. Along with that, training and education activities to improve the quality of destinations continue to be maintained, best preparing for the year-end tourist season.

Hanoi expands international cooperation in Busan

From October 26-31, a delegation from the Hanoi Department of Tourism is attending the first Global Cities Tourism Summit 2025 in Busan (Korea) organized by Busan City and the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO). The conference, themed “Promoting tourism and local culture through innovation and cooperation”, brings together representatives of city governments, tourism promotion organizations, management agencies, experts and international tourism businesses.
