Ukraine-Russia fierce fighting in Avdeevka, Kiev forces hold stronghold

Russian troops continue to attack Ukrainian positions in Avdeevka in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic. The pace of Russian advances has reportedly slowed in recent days, but heavy gunfire, drone attacks and air strikes on Ukrainian positions in the town and suburbs of Avdeevka continue.

Almost a week ago, Russian forces launched simultaneous attacks from both the north and south, encircling the Ukrainian army in Avdeevka. And, in a short time, the Russian army achieved some tactical results.

In the south, Russian forces are advancing on the outskirts of Severnoe. Russian troops have also gained some positions in the southern suburb of Avdeevka. Clashes are taking place in the forested area, where Russian forces are attacking fortified Ukrainian positions.

In the north, Russian troops crossed the railway and reached the village of Berdychi. Russia attacked the main road used by Ukraine to supply military equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Orlovka to Avdeevka.

According to SF , the Russian advance was slowed down by Ukraine's strong defenses. Ukraine had set up numerous minefields, forests with fortified trenches and many large concrete strongholds.

The Russian military has also increased the intensity of artillery, air strikes and drone attacks on the Ukrainian military. The tense situation has made it difficult for Ukrainian troops and equipment to move around Avdeevka, but this has not yet achieved any strategic results.

In the near future, the Russian army is unlikely to launch a major ground offensive and attack the industrial town of Avdeevka.

On October 15, the Russian Defense Ministry also reported losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on several fronts. Accordingly, operational-tactical aviation and ground forces, drones, missile units and artillery of Russian groups of forces attacked many gathering points of troops and equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 133 areas in 24 hours.

A communications center of the Ukrainian Air Force was destroyed in the Dnieper area (Dnepropetrovsk region) and a command post of the 66th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was attacked near Podliman (Kharkov region).

Russian air defense forces also intercepted three US-made HIMARS MLRS missiles in 24 hours.

In addition, 67 drones of Kiev forces were shot down near Verkhnekamenka (Lugansk People's Republic – self-proclaimed), Berestovoye, Belogorovka, Maryinka, Vasilevka, Elenovka (Donetsk People's Republic – self-proclaimed), Kamenskoye, Chervonogorka, Mirnoye (Zaporozhye region) and Sagi (Kherson region).
