Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said the country has the potential to become a regional gas hub in Europe. |
"Ukraine becoming the gas hub of Europe is a reality. We have great prospects. To date, European companies have stored about 2 billion cubic meters of gas in our storage facilities and we expect that by the beginning of winter this year, the volume will increase to 3 billion cubic meters," Galushchenko was quoted as saying by the Ukrainian Energy Ministry.
According to the official, Ukraine is ready to provide foreign companies with underground gas storage facilities with a capacity of up to 15 billion cubic meters.
Earlier, Ukrainian Deputy Energy Minister Nikolai Kolesnik said that the country hopes to become a gas hub for Europe. According to him, Kiev is offering European companies the lowest prices for using Ukrainian gas storage facilities.
Earlier, on September 11, the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service (GUR) announced on the Telegram application that Kiev forces had taken control of offshore drilling rigs near Crimea, after a "unique operation".
GUR believes that regaining control of these rigs is of strategic importance. "Russia has lost the ability to fully control the Black Sea and this brings Ukraine one step closer to regaining Crimea," Reuters news agency quoted GUR's statement on Telegram .
