AI trains logical thinking
According to Dr. Tran Nam Dung, Vice Principal of Gifted High School (Ho Chi Minh City National University), the application of science and technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), in teaching and learning is very important.
Because it will make the learning process easier and promote the "personalization" of each student's learning path.
Mr. Dung said: "AI has the ability to analyze each student's learning data to provide a suitable roadmap based on their individual abilities, strengths and weaknesses. From there, it helps students learn at their own pace, without being constrained by the overall progress of the whole class."
In addition, AI can automatically grade papers and analyze results, helping teachers save time and effort. At the same time, AI also provides teaching suggestions, reference materials, and exercises suitable for each student, helping teachers monitor the learning process in a more scientific and accurate way.

One of the most obvious benefits of AI is providing students with a rich source of learning materials. This technology can synthesize, suggest and create diverse and vivid learning content such as videos , images, quizzes, 3D simulations, etc.
Dr. Dung emphasized: "AI also trains logical thinking, the ability to use technology and the ability to work with machines - necessary skills in the future. It helps students understand how AI works, thereby having critical thinking and evaluating technology correctly."
The "flipped classroom" model in education
At Gifted High School, another new learning method being applied is the "flipped classroom" model.
Unlike traditional classrooms, where teachers lecture in class and students do homework, with "flipped classrooms", students will learn new knowledge at home through videos, documents, digital lectures... prepared in advance by teachers.
Class time is used for discussion, practice, problem solving, or advanced exercises under the direct guidance of the teacher.
Mr. Dung shared: "This helps shift the focus from imparting knowledge to developing thinking skills, analyzing and applying knowledge. From there, it helps increase students' initiative and positivity in the learning process and promotes the supporting and guiding role of teachers instead of just one-way explanation."
With this method, students will be more proactive in accessing knowledge and increase their ability to interact, exchange, and cooperate in groups when coming to class. At the same time, it also helps develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

From knowledge to emotion
Another method that Gifted High School regularly and successfully applies is the "interactive teaching" method.
This method emphasizes two-way communication between: Teacher - Student; Student - Student; Student - Learning content.
"Interactive teaching methods help students to be active, proactive, cooperative and develop their thinking in the learning process, thereby promoting the central role of students. At the same time, it helps students understand deeply, remember for a long time and have the ability to apply knowledge and create an open, positive learning environment, encouraging creativity and criticism. This also creates close interaction between teachers and students that AI cannot do," Dr. Dung shared.
According to the Vice Principal of the Gifted High School, the school is also applying the "emotional" teaching method. This is a modern educational method in which the emotions of students and teachers are emphasized as an important part of the teaching and learning process.
"This method not only imparts knowledge, but also helps students recognize, understand and manage their own emotions, thereby forming life skills, positive attitudes and a sense of responsibility towards themselves and society," he said.
Teaching emotions is a teaching method that integrates emotional education and social skills into lessons. This helps students become aware of their personal emotions, know how to express emotions properly, empathize with others and have skills to resolve conflicts in communication.
"This method helps students develop comprehensively in: Intelligence (IQ); Emotional Intelligence (EQ); Managing negative emotions (anxiety, stress, anger, etc.); Practicing confidence, perseverance, empathy; Improving communication, cooperation and problem-solving skills...", Dr. Dung emphasized.

Dr. Tran Nam Dung, in the context that the country is in dire need of high-quality human resources in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), as well as STEAM (adding the element of Art to promote creativity), comprehensive training for students in both knowledge and skills is extremely important. This will help them have a complete foundation for studying and working in the future.
The Gifted High School has the mission of discovering and training gifted students. The school's goal is to prepare students with a solid foundation of knowledge and creative thinking methods so that they can study well at university and higher levels, thereby becoming good scientists and experts, serving the cause of national development. At the same time, the school also creates a source of good students for universities and provides members for national teams to participate in international Olympic competitions.
