Application of alternate wet and dry irrigation method and high-tech equipment in low-emission rice cultivation

On the morning of May 27, in An Binh commune, Chau Thanh district, Tay Ninh Agricultural Extension and Agricultural Services Center organized a workshop on Application of alternate wet and dry irrigation method (AWD) and high-tech equipment in low-emission rice cultivation.

The workshop was attended by over 70 rice farming households in communes and towns in the district.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Duong Quoc Hoang - Deputy Director of Tay Ninh Agricultural Extension and Agricultural Services Center said that in the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring crop, the Center has implemented a pilot model of 60 hectares of alternating wet and dry irrigated rice in An Thoi quarter, An Hoa ward, Trang Bang town and Thanh Binh hamlet, An Binh commune, Chau Thanh district.

This is a practical effort in the process of realizing the goal of transforming production methods. The AWD irrigation method not only helps save water, reduce production costs but also contributes to limiting greenhouse gas emissions - one of the important goals in the orientation of developing modern, ecological agriculture in our province.

Introducing drones into rice production.

At the workshop, farmers were given specific instructions by Agricultural Extension officers on how to implement and monitor irrigation water using new methods. Along with that, the workshop also introduced and organized a practical demonstration of bringing high-tech agricultural equipment such as drones into the fields, helping to optimize raw materials, improve productivity, efficiency and gradually digitize rice production.
