Drinking 5 cans of beer, how long does it take for the alcohol concentration to go away is a concern of many people.
According to Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang - Vietnam - Russia High Pressure Oxygen Center, Ministry of National Defense , depending on each case, the body eliminates alcohol and beer more slowly or faster.
"Some people drink the night before and the next morning the alcohol concentration in their blood and breath is still there, while others do not. People with weakened liver function or slower metabolism will take longer," said Dr. Hoang.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines an alcohol unit as follows: One alcohol unit is equivalent to 10g of pure ethanol, equal to 200ml of beer; 75ml of wine (one glass); 25ml of spirits (one cup). Depending on the amount of alcohol consumed, it will be converted to approximately how many units of alcohol.
One unit of alcohol takes 1 hour to completely decompose through the respiratory tract and about 15% is excreted, the rest is alcohol excreted in the liver.
For adults with normal health, the liver will eliminate one unit of alcohol every hour. This is an average number, depending on different physical conditions, this period of time can increase or decrease, such as pathological factors, age, weight, or when the stomach contains a lot of food, the rate of alcohol absorption by the stomach will be slow and the rate of alcohol elimination will also be slow.
Two cans of beer are equivalent to 3 units of alcohol and it will take us about 3 hours to eliminate alcohol. However, after elimination, the body needs 2-3 hours for the alcohol in the breath to be completely dispersed. At that time, the alcohol concentration will not be positive. Thus, 2 cans of beer will take you about 6 hours to bring the alcohol concentration to 0.
If you drank 5-6 cans of beer (equivalent to 8-9 units of alcohol) the night before, it will take at least 12 hours to ensure that the alcohol concentration in your breath is not detected.
Experts recommend that, with current regulations, if you are tested for alcohol concentration, even if it is less than 0.25 mg/L, you have violated the law. Therefore, drinking a glass of beer within an hour can still result in a fine. If you drive, you should avoid drinking beer for about 5-6 hours before driving, even if it is just one glass.
