Vadim Nguyen made an impression in his first time on the Vietnam U23 team

(NLDO) - Coach Dinh Hong Vinh highly appreciates Vadim Nguyen and plans to exploit the potential of overseas Vietnamese players during the Vietnam U23 team gathering on the occasion of FIFA Days.

The Vietnam U23 team has gathered all its players and had its first training session during FIFA Days in October 2025. In this training list, the Vietnam U23 coaching staff proactively tested many new elements.

Implementing the long-term preparation plan that the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) deployed early, aiming at two important goals: SEA Games 33 and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship Finals, the Vietnam U23 team trained at the same time as the national team during FIFA Days.

As head coach Kim Sang-sik is leading the national team to play two matches against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers, the coaching work of Vietnam U23 continues to be assigned to Acting Head Coach Dinh Hong Vinh.

According to plan, U23 Vietnam will practice at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center until October 6, before leaving for the UAE for training.

Here, the team will have two friendly matches that are highly appreciated for their professional quality, competing with U23 Qatar on October 9 and 13.

This training and friendly match trip of U23 Vietnam is also part of the football development cooperation program between VFF and Qatar Football Federation, which will be implemented from 2023, providing an important opportunity to help young Vietnamese talents practice tactics, perfect the squad and gain experience.

Next, in November 2025, U23 Vietnam will participate in an international tournament in China according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the leaders of the two Federations in August 2025. The tournament is expected to bring together U23 China, U23 Vietnam and two other strong teams of the continent, promising to be a valuable preparation step before the key tasks at the end of the year.

Sharing before the training session, Coach Dinh Hong Vinh emphasized: "The two friendly matches with U23 Qatar in the upcoming training session are very important, helping to test and evaluate a number of potential players. The whole team is trying to do everything to aim for the goal of winning the 33rd SEA Games gold medal and going deep in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship."

Vadim Nguyen is a new player of U23 Vietnam.

Commenting on rookie Vadim Nguyen, coach Dinh Hong Vinh said: "We highly appreciate this player. The coaching staff always has regular exchanges with head coach Kim Sang-sik to build criteria for selecting the best personnel for the team."

The acting head coach of U23 Vietnam also shared more about the work in the coaching staff: "Whether it's a short or long-term training camp, a friendly match or a practice match, I assign detailed tasks to make the work go smoothly, reducing confusion for the members."

Regarding Viktor Le's late arrival, coach Dinh Hong Vinh said that this player suffered a minor injury after a match at the club and had difficult travel conditions due to the storm. "Viktor has been present since October 5 and was able to join the training session with the whole team. The coaching staff sympathized and shared so that the player could have the best preparation."
