The inspection aims to provide a basis for future traffic management plans, ensuring the safety of people and vehicles traveling through the mountain pass area.
At the scene, the authorities are continuing to urgently address the landslide on National Highway 27C. Although thousands of cubic meters of soil and rocks have been cleared from the road surface, many areas still have thick layers of mud, and some large rocks cannot yet be moved out of the safe zone, posing a potential traffic hazard.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, Deputy Director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Construction, although authorities have carried out rock blasting at some critical locations, a large amount of landslide debris remains. Currently, excavators are being mobilized to continue clearing the debris and leveling the road surface. Some sections of the pass can only be used for one-way traffic when safety conditions permit. Based on this, the Department of Construction has decided not to open the Khanh Le pass on National Highway 27C yet.
The remaining landslides are expected to be cleared and repaired within about a week. If weather conditions are favorable and the remediation work meets technical requirements, reopening the Khanh Le pass could be considered next week, around December 21st or 22nd.
Previously, following heavy rains that caused serious landslides, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Command, in coordination with Khanh Hoa Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company and other relevant forces, deployed explosives to clear rocks, mobilized equipment and personnel to address blockages, and gradually restored traffic on this vital road.

As reported by VNA, on the night of November 16th, while traffic was still flowing through the pass, a particularly serious traffic accident occurred when rocks fell from above onto the road, striking vehicles and causing heavy casualties and property damage, completely disrupting traffic on National Highway 27C. Following the accident, authorities promptly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations and simultaneously cordoned off the road to ensure safety.
At the same time, heavy rains continued, causing new landslides to appear, the road surface to be covered in mud, and some sections to be severely eroded. National Highway 27C was almost completely paralyzed for several days, significantly affecting the travel of people and the transportation of goods between Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong . This forced authorities to implement emergency remedial measures and temporarily ban traffic on Khanh Le Pass.
