Thousands of people and tourists are flocking to the traditional Thatluang Festival taking place from November 1-5 in the capital Vientiane of Laos. The festival not only has deep spiritual significance for the Lao people but is also an opportunity for the "Land of a Million Elephants" to promote its image, people and national culture to international friends.
For Lao people, coming to the Thatluang festival, everyone looks forward to participating in the Phasatphueng procession, a typical Buddhist religious ritual of the Lao people.
The ritual also includes offering offerings to the Thatluang stupa to pray and listen to the teachings of monks, advising people to be good, keep their minds pure, live peacefully and cultivate a life of "good life, good religion".
Through cultural, artistic and tourism activities organized alongside religious ceremonies, Laos is gradually affirming its unique cultural-spiritual tourism potential, aiming to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector, actively contributing to the country's socio-economic development./.
