Gold continues to rise; Crude oil nears $80/barrel

Gold anchored near 77 million VND/tael

Surveyed at 5:00 a.m. on January 20, domestic gold increased sharply by 300,000 VND per tael, anchoring close to the peak of 77 million VND/tael, while world gold tended to stabilize.

On the trading floors of some companies as follows: 9999 gold is listed by DOJI today at 74.25 million VND/tael for buying and 76.75 million VND/tael for selling.

At Mi Hong Jewelry Company, the listed price of SJC gold is 74.70 - 75.90 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited was also traded by the enterprise at 74.30 - 76.70 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 5:00 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 2,028.555 USD/ounce. Today's gold price is 5.91 USD/ounce different from yesterday's gold price. Converted according to the current exchange rate at Vietcombank , the world gold price is about 59.335 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is still 14.965 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Japanese Yen Down at Banks

The exchange rate of Japanese Yen and VCB Yen continues to decrease. Surveyed this morning, January 20, at banks, specifically as follows:

At Vietcombank , the Vietcombank Japanese Yen exchange rate is 160.09 VND/JPY for buying and 169.45 VND/JPY for selling, down 1.07 VND for buying and down 1.13 VND for selling.

Vietinbank, Yen exchange rate decreased by 0.35 VND in buying and selling directions, equivalent to 161.56 VND/JPY and 171.26 VND/JPY.

At BIDV Bank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate decreased by 0.75 VND in buying and 0.07 VND in selling, reaching 161.26 VND/JPY and 169.73 VND/JPY, respectively.

Agribank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate for buying and selling is 162.96 VND/JPY and 168.01 VND/JPY - down 0.34 VND for buying and down 0.37 VND for selling.

At Eximbank, the buying price decreased by 0.38 VND and the selling price decreased by 0.39 VND, respectively at 163.01 VND/JPY and 167.66 VND/JPY.

At Techcombank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate decreased by 0.5 VND in buying and decreased by 0.52 VND in selling with prices of 159.02 VND/JPY and 170.00 VND/JPY, respectively.

At Sacombank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate decreased by 0.45 VND in buying and decreased by 0.46 VND in selling, corresponding to the prices of 163.66 VND/JPY and 168.71 VND/JPY.

Surveyed in the black market, the Japanese Yen/VND exchange rate decreased by 0.17 VND in both buying and selling directions, respectively being traded at 167.02 VND/JPY in buying direction and 168.02 VND/JPY in selling direction.

Oil prices towards 80 USD/barrel

In the world market, gasoline prices today, January 20, continued the upward trend from the previous session.

According to data from Oilprice, at 9:17 p.m. on January 19 (Vietnam time), Brent crude oil was trading at $79.21 per barrel, up $0.11, or 0.14%, from the previous session. WTI crude oil was at $74.33 per barrel, up $0.25, or 0.34%, from the previous session.

According to analysts, oil prices rose as the market reacted positively to data on improving global oil demand.

Tensions in the Middle East have also kept oil prices rising. Houthi forces continue to carry out attacks in the Red Sea, despite the US and UK's response.

Domestic coffee prices slightly decreased

Domestic coffee prices were updated at 5:24 a.m. today, January 20, continuing the decline, down to the highest level of 71,100 VND/kg, averaging 70,900 VND/kg in the Central Highlands provinces, the highest purchase price in Dak Nong and Dak Lak provinces was 71,100 VND/kg.

Domestic coffee prices fell slightly today.

Specifically, the coffee purchase price in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces is quite high at 71,000 VND/kg; In Dak Nong province, coffee is purchased at the highest price of 71,000 VND/kg.

The price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha, coffee is purchased at 70,500 VND/kg.

In Dak Lak province today at 71,000 VND/kg.
