On November 8, the National Economics University organized the 2025 Industry Conference and a forum on integrating data analysis and artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and startups into training programs to contribute to improving training quality. The event was attended by the Board of Directors of the National Economics University, key leaders of the school and many businesses.

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Director of the National Economics University, shared that 2025 is the year of strong transformation of the country with many important resolutions of the Politburo , laying the foundation for strategic breakthroughs in science and technology development and innovation. However, besides many opportunities, higher education institutions and enterprises are also facing many challenges.

“Regarding the development of high-quality human resources in the digital age and artificial intelligence, AI and digital transformation are changing the way businesses operate, the way people learn and work. How can schools and businesses redesign the training process, from content, skills to learning methods - so that students can work immediately after graduation? Regarding innovation cooperation between universities and businesses, it is necessary to discuss in depth the formation of applied research centers, innovation labs, and business incubators right in the heart of universities,” Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong raised the issue.

The forum attracted a large number of businesses, scientists and students to participate.

Also according to Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, before the commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050, what solutions are there to train “green human resources”, advise on green policies, implement circular economic models, and green finance. At the same time, the “state – school – enterprise” model, how to make cooperation not stop at signing, but must become a connected knowledge value chain – where policies are created, knowledge is spread and enterprises benefit from real value.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, General Director of Fiin Group, said that Vietnam is entering the era of fast data and AI, but human resource capacity has not kept up with the market speed, because the gap between academics and business needs is still large; lack of practice environment with real data; analytical and thinking skills with AI are not yet popular; students are good at tools but lack applied thinking, so businesses have to spend time retraining before their employees can do real work (businesses usually take about 3-6 months to retrain), so students find it difficult to compete in regional and international markets and Vietnam's AI-Data opportunities are narrowed, the speed of innovation and digital transformation is slow. Mr. Nguyen Huu Hieu proposed 3 key groups of solutions: Practical training (learning must be linked to real "cases" and real data, training capacity, not only knowing the tools but also knowing how to apply them to make decisions); connecting schools and businesses and nurturing creativity and AI thinking.

Businesses are highlighting the opportunities and challenges of schools and businesses in the digital age.

Mr. Nguyen Tieu Cuong, Deputy General Director of VNPT-IT, Director of VNPT Innovation shared about the value of “practicality” that has helped students grow up quickly. They study in a modern, advanced, dynamic, integrated environment with full facilities at the National Economics University, participate in AI research labs in economic fields, and have access to the latest research projects that we often call “state of the art”. In addition, students also participate in a series of prestigious competitions on AI and programming; participate in the world's ICPC programming competition.

“There are many very smart students who supplemented tariff data on US and Vietnamese industries after policy changes to make their reports more convincing. After being equipped with the necessary skills, they will be introduced to internships at businesses to start a new journey,” said Mr. Nguyen Tieu Cuong.

Students need to be updated with knowledge about AI and digital transformation to adapt and have high "real-life" capabilities.

At the forum, Mr. Luu Tien Dung, a former student of the Law Faculty of the National Economics University, pointed out the reality that students after graduation must retrain to be able to work, even though the training program is 193 credits (while the law majors of other schools only study about 130 credits). Therefore, Mr. Dung proposed that the National Economics University should design an additional subject called "economic law practice" so that students can have more background knowledge, have products quickly, and have income after graduation.

In response to the proposal of many enterprises that universities need to continue to strengthen training linked to practice, enhancing the "practical" nature of learners, Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of Training Management Department of National Economics University, said that the school is building the content of the subject "Practical Topic - 4 credits" to include in the main training program to increase the practical content in the training process for students. The subject will be organized through the construction and development of a team of lecturers/guest lecturers from outside organizations and enterprises to improve the effectiveness of situational exercises to help students access the real environment early...
