A tourism promotion video introduced by the North Korean international travel company has gone viral on social networking platform Reddit.

The video was filmed at Majeon Beach in South Hamgyong Province, showing a group of Russian tourists happily frolicking on the sand and playing a lively game of beach volleyball.

Along with that is the image of jet skis gliding on the open sea. It is known that this video is aimed at the market of tourists from Russia.

Most notably, the video shows a girl wearing a swimsuit, despite previous reports that the country has strict rules on revealing clothing. However, some have suggested that North Korea may have more relaxed dress codes for foreign visitors.

In February, about 100 Russian tourists traveled to North Korea for a four-day ski tour to the Masikryong ski resort near Wonsan, which first opened to visitors in 2014.

According to CNN Travel , after nearly five years of closure due to the pandemic, some tour operators to North Korea said that the country has allowed tourism to restart from December.

One of the destinations is the tourist city of Samjiyon, located near the Chinese border. North Korea will consider expanding to other localities across the country.

North Korea has been closed to most international visitors since 2020. Some international flights to and from the country will resume in 2023, CBS News reported.

Statistics compiled by NK News show that in 2019, about 350,000 Chinese tourists traveled to North Korea, bringing in a large source of revenue for Pyongyang.
