Vietnam has a new network operator, prefix 889

(Dan Tri) - Vietnam's telecommunications market has one more competition. The new network has the prefix 889.

On March 11, Leeon Group Joint Stock Company launched the SkyX telecommunications network.

Licensed services include fixed terrestrial public telecommunications networks that do not use radio frequency bands and telecommunications services on terrestrial mobile telecommunications networks.

Not only providing telecommunications services, SkyX also aims to build a technology ecosystem, supporting businesses and individuals in the digital transformation process. In addition, SkyX also aims to develop value-added services, supporting businesses to optimize business operations. Typical solutions include fixed SIP, mobile SIP, Voice Brandname and data security.

SkyX's entry into the market brings a new telecommunications option, contributing to the development of the Vietnamese telecommunications market. Previously, in January 2024, FPT Retail also announced the provision of FPT virtual mobile network (MVNO) nationwide with the prefix 0775.

According to the Department of Telecommunications, as of April 2023, there were only about 2.65 million subscribers belonging to MVNOs in Vietnam, accounting for 2.1% of the total number of subscribers in the entire mobile market. This number is very modest when looking at the scale of the virtual network market in the world .

According to Global Market Insights , the total revenue of the virtual telecommunications market worldwide is at 65 billion USD and has a growth rate of up to 9%/year.
