Vietnam won 4 medals at the 2024 International Olympiad in Informatics

On the night of September 5 (Vietnam time), the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) received information about the official results of the Vietnam National Team participating in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2024.

Accordingly, the Vietnamese national team consisted of 4 students competing, and 4/4 students won medals, including: 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal, and 1 Bronze Medal.

All medals were won by students from the High School for Gifted Students of the University of Natural Sciences , Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Specifically, Pham Cong Minh, a 12th grader, and Hoang Xuan Bach, a 11th grader, won the Gold Medals.

Nguyen Huu Tuan, a 10th grader, won the Silver Medal; Pham Ngoc Trung, a 12th grader, won the Bronze Medal.

The 36th IOI will be held in person from September 1 to September 6, 2024 in Alexandria, Egypt. The 2024 IOI will be attended by 353 contestants from 91 countries and territories (in addition to Russia, Belarus and Australia competing under the Olympic flag) and 9 contestants competing online from Israel, Iran and Germany.

In 2023, the Vietnam IOI Team is in the group of 9 countries with the highest results in the Medal table with 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal.

According to the regulations of the IOI Council 2024, the International Olympiad in Informatics has two official competition days. On each competition day, candidates will take a 5-hour computer programming test and solve 3 problems with rich content. The results will be automatically graded online by the system and the live scoreboard will be announced throughout the two competition days (online).
