A fun-filled parent-teacher meeting at the 'mini cinema'

At the year-end parent meeting, parents were surprised when their children and friends invited them to a 'mini movie theater' and received one surprise after another.

Invited to a parent-teacher meeting, the parents of class 5T1 at Tran Hung Dao Primary School, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City were very surprised when they arrived at the classroom door. "I went to the parent-teacher meeting at the end of the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year but was welcomed by my child and classmates to a mini cinema," said one parent.

First, the group of students in the "ticketing and guidance" section is responsible for guiding their parents to choose their seats on the printed map. Parents who arrive early will get good seats and vice versa. When entering the classroom - the "cinema", the group of students in "section 2" will invite parents to choose their favorite drink and they will serve it.

When all the parents were seated, two female MCs from class 5T1 began to introduce and lead the parents to enjoy each program of the "cinema".

From the clip "Nine-month journey - Love and connection" to reporting on learning and training results; then the dance "Parents' arms"... made both parents, students and teachers laugh out loud.

Ms. Nguyen Dieu Ly, homeroom teacher of class 5T1, shared: "The general mentality of parents is often very afraid of parent-teacher meetings, even the students are the same. Before, when I told the students that when they go home, remind their parents to go to the parent-teacher meeting. Immediately, many of them were depressed. Is there another meeting, teacher? If my grades are not good, I will be scolded when I get home...".

From that reality, Ms. Dieu Ly confided that she wanted to improve the parent-teacher meeting to have a cheerful, light, and friendly atmosphere. "The parent-teacher meeting is about matters related to the students, so it requires their preparation and participation. I present my ideas to the students and let them implement them.

Like in this mini cinema, depending on their abilities, students choose the appropriate activity. Even the dance is something the students watch on YouTube, choreograph it themselves, and practice it together. I want parents to see their children's development through many different skills, not just their scores."

Ms. Bao Tran, An Nhien's parent, expressed: "I was very surprised to see my daughter as one of the two MCs of the "cinema". My child is inherently shy, she is very shy when standing in front of a crowd. However, she has overcome herself, overcome her inherent weaknesses to become an MC. This is the first time I have seen my child speak so confidently. I am truly happy with her maturity."
