What should the elderly and children do to avoid getting Covid-19?

My family has 3 generations living together including my parents, my husband and I and 2 children (one 10 years old, one 8 years old). During the previous pandemic, the whole family got Covid-19 and each person had 3-4 doses of this vaccine. This time, hearing the news that Covid-19 is increasing again, I am quite worried, especially because my parents are old and have underlying diseases (one has high blood pressure, the other has hypothyroidism). So what should I do to help my family avoid the risk of getting Covid-19 as much as possible?

Hello Thanh!

Currently, the Covid-19 situation in Vietnam is well controlled, with a low number of recorded cases and most cases having mild or no symptoms. However, the epidemic can still recur, especially as summer approaches, with the risk of increased respiratory diseases such as seasonal flu and other infectious diseases.

To protect the health of your family, especially your elderly parents with underlying diseases, you can take the following measures: ensure that all family members, especially the elderly and children, have received all the necessary Covid-19 vaccines and other vaccines to prevent diseases such as seasonal flu; encourage everyone to wear masks when going out, especially in crowded places, and wash their hands regularly with soap or antiseptic solution; especially in air-conditioned environments, keep your body warm, eat nutritious food and maintain exercise habits to improve resistance...

In addition, you should encourage your parents to have regular health check-ups and comply with treatment for underlying diseases to reduce the risk of complications. At the same time, monitor information about the epidemic, regularly update the epidemic situation from reliable sources such as the Ministry of Health to have timely preventive measures.

Friendly!
