Accordingly, male patient NHT (38 years old, in Long Binh ward, Dong Nai province) was hospitalized with severe abdominal pain accompanied by loose stools mixed with a lot of fresh blood.

Mr. T. said: About 10 hours before entering Dong Nai 2 Hospital, Mr. T. had a traffic accident and went to a medical facility for examination but no abnormalities were found so he was allowed to go home.

However, when he returned home, the signs of pain gradually increased and he had bloody stools. His family immediately took him to the emergency room at Dong Nai 2 Hospital. After examination, performing paraclinical tests such as abdominal CT scan and blood tests, it was found that the patient had a ruptured right colon and cecum, causing severe anemia.

Specialist II Doctor Le Anh Tuan, Head of General Surgery Department, Dong Nai 2 Hospital, decided to perform emergency colonoscopy for the patient instead of open surgery to cut the colon and stop the bleeding.

According to Dr. Tuan, closed abdominal trauma after a traffic accident is an extremely dangerous condition because internal organ damage may not appear immediately but progress silently. Therefore, after strong collisions, falls, work accidents... even if there are no open wounds on the outside, the patient must absolutely not be subjective.
