This is part of the content of an article about Vietnam's diplomatic achievements published by Reuters (UK) on December 28.

According to the article, Vietnam's foreign policy in 2023 will be increasingly dynamic with achievements in upgrading relations with key partners in the world, including important diplomatic agreements.

Vietnam and the US have upgraded their relationship to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” for peace, cooperation and sustainable development, during US President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam in September 2023. On this occasion, the two countries also signed a cooperation agreement on semiconductors and essential minerals. The US currently considers Vietnam one of the strategic “links” in Southeast Asia in its efforts to establish a sustainable global supply chain.

Next, Vietnam and Japan agreed to upgrade their relationship to a "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World", on the occasion of Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong's official visit to Japan in November 2023, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During this visit, the two countries also agreed to strengthen security and economic cooperation. Japanese multinational companies, including Canon, Honda, Panasonic and Bridgestone, are among the largest foreign investors in Vietnam.

Before the end of 2023, Vietnam and China agreed to deepen bilateral relations through a joint statement on building a "Community of Shared Future" between Vietnam and China, on the occasion of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping's State visit to Vietnam from December 12 to 13. During this visit, central and local ministries, departments and agencies of the two countries signed 36 cooperation agreements, related to areas such as transport infrastructure, trade, security and digital economy.

According to the article, the above diplomatic achievements in 2023 are a continuation of the achievements in previous years. Specifically, in December 2022, Vietnam and South Korea agreed to upgrade their relationship to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”, focusing on trade, investment, defense and security cooperation.

Vietnam's diplomatic achievements are also marked in the economic field. According to the article, Vietnam is one of the "bright spots" in the economic picture of the Southeast Asian region.

Vietnam has signed free trade agreements with the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom, Chile and South Korea. Vietnam is also a member of larger trade agreements, including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which includes China and Japan.
