Karate brings third gold medal to Vietnam

In the women's Kata final, the "trio" Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Ngoc Tram and Luu Thi Thu Uyen completed their performance very well when the judges scored 42.70 points, thereby convincingly winning against Malaysia (39.00 points). Previously in the semi-finals, the Vietnamese girls had an impressive performance when they scored 40.80 points, surpassing Cambodia (38.90 points). With this result, the Vietnamese Kata team won the precious gold medal. This is the first gold medal of Vietnamese Karate and the third gold medal of the country's sports delegation at the 19th Asian Games.

Nguyen Thi Ngoan won silver medal beyond expectations

Not long after the first gold medal in the Kata category, Nguyen Thi Ngoan was expected to have a similar achievement against Gong Li (China) in the final of the Kumite in the women's under 61kg category. However, against the very strong opponent Gong Li, the Vietnamese boxer lost quite easily. The final score of this match was 9-0 in favor of the home boxer, which meant that Nguyen Thi Ngoan won the silver medal. Although she could not get the highest medal, reaching the final and winning the silver medal was also an unexpected achievement for the boxer born in 1998.

Also on today's competition day, the Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team impressively defeated the Korean team with a score of 2-0 (21-9, 21-7) after 25 minutes of competition in the semi-finals of the women's Regu event, thereby entering the final to compete for the gold medal with Thailand tomorrow morning, October 7. This is the second final match of the Vietnamese women's Sepak Takraw at the 19th Asian Games, before that our women's team of 4 defeated Indonesia to win the gold medal. Also on this competition day, the Vietnamese men's team lost to Thailand in the semi-finals, thereby winning the bronze medal.

Vietnamese women's sepak takraw (yellow shirt) will have the second final match

In the semi-finals of the indoor volleyball event, the Vietnamese women's team lost 1-3 to Japan, and will compete for the bronze medal tomorrow, October 7. In the chess event, Lai Ly Huynh and Nguyen Thanh Bao both lost to Chinese players in the 6th round, and are only able to compete for the bronze medal. Meanwhile, the 4-0 victory over the UAE helped the Vietnamese women's chess team gain 10 points, ranking 4th, ahead of Uzbekistan in the secondary index. We will compete for the bronze medal with the team ranked 11 points higher than Kazakhstan in the final round.

In wrestling, Nguyen Thi My Hanh lost 0-10 to Tynybekova (Kyrgyzstan) in the women's -62kg repechage match. Similarly, in archery, after losing to host China in the semi-finals, the Vietnamese women's team competed for the bronze medal in the women's single-reed team event against India. Archers Anh Nguyet, Thanh Nhi and Phuong Thao did not perform well and lost 2-6. Thus, Vietnamese archery could not win a medal at this year's Asian Games.

With 1 more gold medal, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation has 3 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 17 bronze medals, temporarily ranked 21st on the overall ranking as of 9:45 p.m. tonight, October 6. Currently leading is host China (187 gold medals), while Japan (47 gold medals) is in second place, and South Korea (36 gold medals) is temporarily in third place.
