Vietnam affirms its commitment to ensuring equal access to justice for all people.

Vietnam has made great progress in strengthening its legal framework, ensuring equality before the law for all and in conformity with international human rights standards.

Vice President of the 77th UN General Assembly, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of the Vietnamese Delegation to the UN chaired the meeting.

On June 15, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held a High-Level Debate on the topic “Equal access to justice for all: Advancing reforms for peaceful , just and inclusive societies” chaired by Vice President of the 77th UNGA, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of the Vietnamese Delegation to the UN.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Counsellor Le Thi Minh Thoa, Deputy Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, emphasized that equal access to justice plays an important role in ensuring justice, fairness, effectiveness and comprehensiveness, contributing to the implementation of the overarching goal of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, leaving no one behind.

The Vietnamese representative affirmed that Vietnam has made much progress in strengthening the legal framework, ensuring everyone is equal before the law and in accordance with international standards on human rights.

Vietnam has established free or low-cost legal aid services for individuals to close the justice gap and provide equal opportunities for all. Many programs have been implemented to raise awareness, eliminate discrimination and provide special support to women, children, people with disabilities and ethnic minorities.

To ensure transparency, accountability and fairness in the administration of justice, the judicial system is constantly being strengthened, along with that, Vietnam is constantly improving the capacity of its legal staff, taking advantage of technology to modernize court processes, facilitating online proceedings so that all citizens can easily access justice.

The Vietnamese representative also shared lessons learned in addressing the root causes of injustice such as poverty and inequality, ensuring inclusive economic growth, improving social welfare, and equalizing opportunities so that everyone can participate in the development process.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese representative highlighted the need to strengthen international cooperation through sharing experiences, knowledge and resources to promote a global environment where everyone can access justice.
