78 years have passed, through the arduous struggle to protect, build and develop the country under the leadership of the Party, up to now, our country has received many great achievements in all fields of politics , economy, culture and society.

At the 13th National Party Congress, summarizing the 12th term and looking back at 35 years of innovation, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed, “With all modesty, we can still say that: Our country has never had the foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today.”

By establishing diplomatic relations with 192 countries, establishing a stable and long-term relationship framework with 30 strategic and comprehensive partners around the world, and having economic and trade relations with more than 230 countries and territories, Vietnam's prestige and position are increasingly appreciated and welcomed and supported by international friends.

On the occasion of the important holiday of the Vietnamese people, Ambassadors and Heads of international organizations in Vietnam shared their congratulations on the achievements that Vietnam has achieved; in which they affirmed that Vietnam has been and is an increasingly important partner of the international community in joining hands to solve common global challenges; at the same time, they pledged to stand side by side and support to build and develop a prosperous and sustainably developed Vietnam.

Vietnam will continue to demonstrate its leading role in the region.

Sending the warmest congratulations to the leaders and all Vietnamese people on the occasion of National Day September 2, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam affirmed: "The world highly appreciates Vietnam because you have strong principles, a high sense of international responsibility; and receive the trust and recognition of the international community."

According to Ambassador Jaya Ratnam, Vietnam's position globally is reflected in the positions and roles it has, is, and will assume at regional and world forums, especially at the United Nations.

“All of these demonstrate the trust and respect that countries have for Vietnam. And I strongly believe that Vietnam will continue to successfully assume more leadership positions, demonstrating its leading role in the region and around the world,” the Ambassador emphasized.

The world is looking to Vietnam

Appreciating Vietnam's ever-increasing role in the international arena, Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Shawn Steil said that part of the contribution to this is Vietnam's economic growth. Vietnam is leading the region, and possibly the world, in economic growth. The world is increasingly looking to Vietnam as a manufacturing hub.

Ambassador Shawn Steil believes that soon, Vietnam will not only be a place of manufacturing but also a place of creativity and innovation. We will not only buy products made in Vietnam but also products invented in Vietnam. Vietnam’s future is bright, and Canada sees Vietnam increasingly demonstrating its leadership role regionally and globally. And with a partner like Canada, there is no limit to what Vietnam can do.

Appreciating the commitments and actions of the Vietnamese Government in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Ms. Ramla Khalidi, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam, said that Vietnam has made commitments towards sustainable development goals.

“That is very welcome. I think all countries in the world are struggling to achieve the sustainable development goals. Factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine and a number of other crises have all increased the challenge of achieving the sustainable development goals. However, I think Vietnam has made impressive progress on many of the goals.

Vietnam ranks 51st out of 165 countries in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals index. You have made significant progress in 5 out of 17 goals including education and poverty reduction, clean water...,” Ms. Ramla Khalidi shared.

According to the UNDP Resident Representative, Vietnam is a model for poverty reduction, especially in a short period of time. “I think many countries will look to Vietnam to learn those lessons. Congratulations and I really look forward to UNDP continuing to work with the Government of Vietnam in addressing the remaining challenges of the sustainable development goals and the new challenges of the 21st century,” said Ms. Ramla Khalidi./.
