At the international conference on training, technology and applications in the semiconductor industry held in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of November 27, 2025, delegates affirmed that Vietnam is emerging as a new strategic address in the global high-tech industry.
According to Mr. Le Quoc Cuong - Deputy Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP) - the semiconductor sector can only develop strongly when all parties join forces instead of going it alone. The "3+" model implemented by SHTP, connecting the state, scientists , businesses and international investors, is considered a key foundation to help Vietnam participate more deeply in the global semiconductor value chain.

Reality shows that Vietnam already has the foundation to develop the industry: a large young workforce, competitive labor costs and a rapidly developing supporting industrial system.
In addition, the electronics - microchip industry has businesses operating in chip design and packaging; this is considered an advantage for Vietnam to gradually take on many stages in the semiconductor production chain instead of just processing and assembling.
Semiconductor industry development strategy to 2030 - Vision 2050 has been approved by the Government , with clear goals: developing specialized human resources, attracting domestic and international investment, supporting businesses and establishing incentive mechanisms for R&D projects, chip design and manufacturing.
However, experts also emphasized that to turn potential into reality, Vietnam needs to quickly complete infrastructure, develop specialized skills, and build a strong support ecosystem - from education , vocational training, research to the supply chain of components and accessories.
Many foreign enterprises in the semiconductor and high-tech sectors have begun to deploy or expressed their desire to expand their investment in Vietnam. This growth not only brings jobs but also helps transfer technology, improve production levels, and contribute to bringing Vietnam to a higher position on the global industrial map.
Vietnam's move towards a global semiconductor "hub" not only brings economic opportunities, but also poses great requirements for sustainable development: standardizing training, ensuring the quality of human resources, building an auxiliary supply chain, protecting intellectual property rights and improving policies to support businesses to participate deeply in the global value chain.
