Vietnam promotes startup ecosystem to the international community

Minister Huynh Thanh Dat and his delegation attended GEC 2023 and international Techfest, introducing Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem, attracting international attention and resources.

On September 19 and 20, the delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology led by Minister Huynh Thanh Dat had many activities in Australia within the framework of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress 2023 (GEC). GEC is an event organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network, bringing together thousands of delegates and senior leaders from more than 170 countries to connect and share experiences, thereby creating a global innovative startup ecosystem.

Through the event, the Minister hopes to introduce the dynamic and highly "open" Vietnamese innovation and startup ecosystem to attract international attention and resources, including overseas Vietnamese.

He said that Vietnam is ready to participate responsibly to bring innovative solutions to solve economic , social and sustainable development problems in countries around the world and encourage international experts and businesses to develop markets and coordinate with domestic businesses to solve problems in Vietnam.

According to the Minister, Vietnam needs to continue to improve its ranking in the GII index in a sustainable manner, so it should focus on the input factors of innovation, in which innovative enterprises need to pay attention to improving index groups on infrastructure, information technology application, improving the business environment, quality of legal regulations, and improving the quality of the workforce.

Discussing with senior leaders from 170 countries at the GEC, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat shared issues related to the environment and waste in Vietnam, leading to changes in the relationship between science and policy making. He said that Vietnam is strongly innovating its thinking in science and technology management, encouraging experimentation, accepting risks and failures, and at the same time, promoting the spirit of open science and open innovation.

At the international Techfest held on the afternoon of September 20 in Melbourne, a number of Vietnamese innovative startups had the opportunity to present to Australian venture capital funds. This is an activity to promote the ecosystem and innovative startups of Vietnam to the world, while attracting financial resources and experts from investment funds and support organizations of other countries.

Since 2019, the Ministry of Science and Technology has directed the organization of international Techfest in countries with developed innovation ecosystems. Accordingly, the event has been held in the US, Korea, Singapore...
