Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) Huynh Van Chuong said that organizing the exam to select the national team to compete in the Olympics, gradually approaching the regional and international exam format, is one of the new points that brought about good results.
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi commended and congratulated the achievements of students,educational institutions, and teachers who have worked hard to review and train to achieve the best results.
“Today's achievements are just the beginning, there is still a long journey ahead, so you should not be complacent or satisfied, but need to continue to research, study, surpass yourself, continue to hone yourself to shine, conquer, and reach new horizons,” Ms. Chi advised the students.

According to Deputy Minister Chi, in the coming time, the country will have many breakthrough policies and strategies, surpassing institutions, resources, and infrastructure, removing many bottlenecks, creating momentum for the country to develop in the new era. It is the excellent students, especially those honored today, who are the core and pioneers in taking on this difficult and arduous task.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Training believes that students who win international Olympic prizes with outstanding intelligence, aspirations to go beyond the usual framework, with dreams not only limited to themselves and their families but also serving their homeland and country will be able to fulfill their responsibilities and affirms that the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training will continue to listen and provide methodical advice to make appropriate decisions, especially in the field of training and nurturing talents.

Do Phu Quoc, a student at Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted (Quang Nam), representing students with excellent achievements at international and regional Olympic competitions, shared his joy, emotion, and pride when receiving noble awards.
For Phu Quoc, participating in an international Olympic competition is something he never dared to dream of before because, according to him, as a student in a remote land in Quang Nam, to have an opportunity to participate in an international competition is not easy. “It is a journey of passion for science, perseverance, and daily hard work of both teachers and students. I believe that the talented dedication of the young generation is an important resource for the development of the country,” Quoc said.
Access to international exam format
Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) said that in 2024, Vietnam had 7 delegations participating in international and regional Olympic competitions, with a total of 38 outstanding students participating. The results achieved exceeded those of previous years with 12 Gold Medals, 15 Silver Medals, 10 Bronze Medals and 1 Certificate of Merit.
Compared to 2023, there were 4 more Gold Medals and 3 more Silver Medals, affirming the strong rise in the quality of Vietnam's leading education in addition to the mass quality. What is even more encouraging is that the practical exam scores of all subjects of the Vietnamese teams have improved and increased significantly.
Regarding the International Science and Engineering Competition, this year marks the first time the Vietnamese delegation won second prize at the International Science and Engineering Competition (ISEF) held in the United States, affirming the potential for the development of innovative education in the field of science and technology. Looking further ahead at the results over the past 5 years, from 2020 to 2024, the number of gold and silver medals and the total number of medals have increased each year, Vietnam's top 10 position in most subjects has been maintained, many subjects have risen to the top 2 and top 3 in the world.
According to Mr. Chuong, the Ministry of Education and Training has made fundamental and synchronous innovations in organizing national competitions for excellent students and training teams, gradually approaching regional and international competition formats.
“In particular, in the selection of the Informatics Olympic team, we have applied the same testing and grading method as the regional and international Informatics Olympiads. We are researching to expand this testing method,” said Mr. Chuong.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training also mobilizes a team of young, capable staff, former students who have won international and regional Olympic prizes, as well as encourages Vietnamese professors and doctors teaching at foreign universities to further train the team in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of training the Olympic teams.
At the ceremony, 4 students, 34 teachers and 27 groups with excellent achievements in reviewing and training the team received Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training.
Previously, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met and commended the group of students who won the 2024 International Science and Technology Olympiad. At the meeting, 20 students were awarded the Labor Medal, of which 10 were awarded the Second Class Labor Medal, 10 were awarded the Third Class Labor Medal; 6 students received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister.
