Five Vietnamese enterprises won bids to import 237,500 tons of rice, accounting for nearly half of the amount of rice Indonesia wanted to import in the first month of this year.
Earlier this year, Indonesia’s National Logistics Agency (Bulog) said the country wanted to import 500,000 tons of rice in January to increase food reserves. Bulog’s results announced on January 31 showed that five Vietnamese companies won the bid for nearly half of this amount, reaching 237,500 tons of rice.
Of these, Loc Troi Group Joint Stock Company won the most, with 65,000 tons exported to Indonesia this time. Vietnam's lowest winning bid for rice was about 648,000 USD per ton, including transportation costs.
Last year, Indonesia imported more than 1 million tons of Vietnamese rice, ranking second among the countries importing the most Vietnamese rice.
