Vietnam and UAE group sign high-tech defense cooperation agreement

The Memorandum of Understanding recently signed by representatives of Vietnam and the UAE creates a solid foundation for the potential for extensive cooperation in the field of high-tech defense industry.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense led by Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, attended the Dubai Airshow in Dubai, UAE and visited and worked with the UAE Ministry of Defense.

At the exhibition, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien and his delegation visited the booths and met with defense enterprises from the UAE and several other countries. Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested that the countries and Vietnam promote exchanges and explore cooperation possibilities, in accordance with each side's capacity, and agree on directions to promote defense industry cooperation in the coming time.

Also at the exhibition, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group and the UAE's EDGE Group.

The recently signed MoU lays a solid foundation for the potential for extensive cooperation in the high-tech defense industry. The MoU also outlines a roadmap for joint initiatives of mutual interest, including the potential for developing an original equipment manufacturing model in Vietnam for components and modules connected to the EDGE product line, targeting the UAE and other export markets, expanding opportunities for research, exchange, technology transfer, and technology training cooperation.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated Viettel and Edge on signing the Memorandum of Understanding, and suggested that the two sides continue to maintain close contact and coordination to concretize the agreed contents, and at the same time develop plans to implement specific cooperation activities in key areas in the coming time.

The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense's participation in the exhibition demonstrates its interest in international cooperation in the defense industry, affirming that the Vietnamese Government and Ministry of National Defense always create conditions to enhance international exchanges and cooperation in the defense industry according to the principles of equality, mutual benefit, respect for Vietnamese laws and other international commitments.
