On May 27, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the official results of the Vietnam National Team participating in the 2025 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) hosted by Uzbekistan.
The Vietnamese national team had 6 students participating in the award. As a result, 100% of the students won medals, including: 1 Gold medal, 2 Silver medals, 3 Bronze medals.
Specifically, Nguyen Bui Duc Dung (grade 11, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) won the Gold medal.
Two Silver medals went to Le Kien Thanh (grade 12, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Binh Dinh province); Dang Huy Hau (grade 10, Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong province).
The three students who won Bronze medals were: Ninh Quang Thang (grade 12, Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh province); Nguyen Huy Phong (grade 11, Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, Lao Cai province); Nguyen Xuan Chi Thanh (grade 11, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
Notably, Nguyen Bui Duc Dung won the Gold medal with 236/300 points, including two papers with the maximum score of 100 points. Notably, in paper 1, Dung was one of three candidates with the maximum score. Dang Huy Hau won the Silver medal with a very unique solution and achieved the maximum score in paper 3, surprising everyone.
With this result, the Vietnam Informatics Olympic Team ranked 5th after China, Russia, Japan, and Korea and continued to affirm its leading position among countries in the Southeast Asian region.
This result shows that Vietnamese students have been equipped with adequate and updated knowledge. In addition, the results of many years in the International and Regional Informatics Olympiads also show that Vietnamese students have the talent and thinking in Computer Science on par with the top students in the region.
The 19th Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad was held from May 17-18, 2025, attracting the participation of 42 delegations from countries and territories with 868 contestants.
This year's exam questions are considered creative, following the exam trend of the International Olympiad in Informatics, with each question having many flexible and creative approaches./.
