This is an event to celebrate 20 years of officially operating Viettel Mobile mobile services. Thus, Viettel is the first enterprise to officially provide 5G services in Vietnam. Attending this event were Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam - Deputy Minister of National Defense ; Mr. Pham Duc Long - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications. Officially launched just 6 months after receiving the license to use the 2,600 MHz frequency, Viettel's 5G network at the time of launch had more than 6,500 base transceiver stations, covering 100% of the capitals of 63/63 provinces, cities, industrial parks, tourist areas, seaports, airports, hospitals, and universities. Viettel's 5G network can reach speeds of 700Mbps-1Gb, 10 times faster than 4G, and has a latency of almost 0. Viettel's 5G network deploys 5G simultaneously on both 5G NSA (non stand alone) and 5G SA (stand alone) architecture platforms. Viettel successfully deployed the 5G NSA network in 2019. However, 5G SA is the real 5G network and is completely independent of current 4G technology. Compared to the 5G NSA network, in addition to providing high-speed data transmission services, 5G SA also meets the requirement of super low latency, about 1ms, much better than the 5G NSA network and 20 times faster than traditional 4G, helping to provide services that require instant response such as self-driving cars, remote surgery, remote control in smart factories, virtual reality classrooms, etc. Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam - Deputy Minister of National Defense and Mr. Pham Duc Long - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications launched Viettel's 5G network. Currently, Viettel produces 50 types of modern weapons, serving the country. Viettel has put Vietnam in the top 5 countries producing 5G equipment. The Ministry of National Defense requires Viettel to thoroughly develop telecommunications and defense industry in accordance with reality, create a digital society, and compete with regional and global enterprises. At the event, Mr. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman of Viettel, said that 20 years ago today, Viettel launched the Viettel Mobile mobile network. This is a special journey of many emotions for generations of Viettel leaders. Mobile has contributed to making Viettel the No. 1 telecommunications - IT enterprise in Vietnam. This is also the field that creates the most important human and material resources, creating the stature, organizational scale and market position for Viettel to continuously expand its business lines and business space both domestically and internationally. “More than 6,000 5G base stations broadcast after only 6 months of receiving the license is a great effort and determination of Viettel for Vietnam to continue to be in the group of leading countries in the world in commercializing 5G. 5G creates conditions for the development of economic sectors, creating a shift for industries such as manufacturing, education, healthcare, logistics transportation... and contributing to increasing Viettel's growth space, enhancing Vietnam's competitiveness in the international arena", said Mr. Tao Duc Thang. Currently, Viettel has invested in mobile business in 10 countries in 3 continents: Asia, Africa and America, of which 7 are number 1 markets. Viettel has also pioneered coverage in the deepest area in the Amazon forest (Peru); Eliminate blackout zones for nearly 6,000 villages and residential areas in international markets, helping millions of local people access telecommunications and information technology services.
