Sharing at the workshop "Optimizing cash flow from advertising for chain stores" on July 25 within the framework of Vietnam Advertising and Entertainment Week - Vietnam Ad & Fun 2025, Mr. Nguyen Quang Nhut - Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Advertising Association - said that outdoor advertising (OOH) is an effective form of advertising as it allows businesses to target audiences because they are easily encountered while moving.
Chain can earn millions of dollars through advertising cooperation
When combined with the advantages of large chain stores such as convenient locations or frequent traffic, the chains can completely turn this into a profitable channel.
In fact, many retail chains and convenience stores have taken advantage of TVs or in-store spaces to sell advertising services.
"This method not only helps the chains advertise their own internal activities but also expands their network and increases revenue. The point is that this advertising method reaches the right customer base that the business wants," Mr. Nhut added.
It is estimated that a store or restaurant in a prime location can rent out advertising space for 1-2 billion/year/location. In addition, for coffee chains with over 1,000 stores, revenue from advertising cooperation, the figure of 2-4 million USD/year is completely feasible.

Sharing more with Tuoi Tre Online about revenue from advertising activities at the chains, Ms. Do Le Anh - Head of Advertising Business Department of Vincom Retail JSC - said that Vincom Retail has recently also given some directions to make advertising one of the main sources of revenue.
She said that advertising revenue is targeted to account for 3% of total revenue each year. "This is not a high number, but when placed under the large total revenue, it is significant, showing that the ability to generate profit from this is potential and effective," she explained.
Sharing the same view, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Dung - Head of Advertising Sales Department of Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company - said that Vietjet is currently optimizing all communication channels and optimizing advertising revenue: social networking platforms, website channels, on planes, magazines...
Accordingly, Ms. Dung believes that each chain or store has different advantages such as location, customer base... Stores can take advantage of these to create a new source of revenue.
Besides the potential, many speakers at the workshop also pointed out some initial difficulties that chains may encounter such as: legal, price, not finding customers, implementation costs, synchronizing premises...
However, experts at the workshop assessed that in the current context and development potential, expanding revenue from outdoor advertising could become a potential direction, especially for units that own a widespread touchpoint system.
According to the latest data from Compass Report, the total revenue of outdoor advertising (OOH) in Vietnam in 2024 will reach about 320 million USD. In Ho Chi Minh City alone, the total value of filled billboards in the second quarter of 2025 will reach more than 16 million USD, with an occupancy rate of 73%, continuing to lead in the scale and speed of LED advertising deployment, especially the trend of exploiting metro lines is opening up new growth space for the industry.
