Up to now, the Hoa Ban Do Scholarship Fund of Vinh O Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities has been established and operated for more than 1 year. Although located in a mountainous area, from the spread of the purpose and meaning of building the fund, the Hoa Ban Do Scholarship Fund has initially received attention and support from units, businesses, and kind-hearted individuals inside and outside the province.
Through the fund, many Bru - Van Kieu ethnic minority students have received scholarships for their good academic and training achievements. Nguyen Van Thong, Principal of Vinh O Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, said: “The Hoa Ban Do Scholarship Fund is the school's passion to help encourage studious students in areas with many socio -economic difficulties.
Since its establishment in January 2024, the Hoa Ban Do Scholarship Fund has raised over 20 million VND. The school promptly awarded scholarships to 10 students who are children of the Bru - Van Kieu ethnic group in Vinh O commune.
Sharing her feelings as one of the students who just received the scholarship, Ho Thi My Linh, a 5A student at Vinh O Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, said: “I am very happy to receive the Hoa Ban Do scholarship. I thank my teachers, my aunts and uncles. I hope that many more students will also receive the scholarship and be good and study well.”
Vinh Linh district currently has 54 associations under the education promotion association, including 18 commune and town associations; 6 school branches, 30 education promotion committees. At the commune level, there are 240 education promotion associations; 220 education promotion committees. Along with building a district-level education promotion fund, communes, towns, schools, and villages, neighborhoods, and clans are increasingly replicating models and movements to develop education promotion funds.
Many activities to encourage learning and talent are widely organized such as: giving scholarships, bicycles, books, clothes, financial support to go to school, receiving sponsorship... Permanent Vice President of Vinh Linh District Association for Learning Promotion Phan Thi Gai said: "In Vinh Linh District, it is very noteworthy that each cadre, civil servant, and public employee, out of their interest in the work of encouraging learning and talent, has dedicated 1 person, 1 day's salary/1 year to support the learning promotion fund. 18 communes and towns all have their own learning promotion funds.
Many units regularly organize programs such as "Spring of Love", "Connecting Hands of Love - Connecting Love", "Going to School with You"... attracting responses from businesses, children far from home, fellow countrymen's associations, kind-hearted individuals, and sponsors contributing to the scholarship fund. Some localities mobilize large scholarship funds such as the communes of Vinh Giang, Vinh Tu, Vinh Thai, Vinh Long , Ho Xa town, Cua Tung...
In particular, Vinh Giang commune, in addition to regular activities, also maintains a scholarship fund of over 800 million VND/year, using interest to operate. Each clan has also had a covenant and convention to develop a suitable scholarship fund, typically the Le, Duong, and Nguyen Van clans...
By diversifying types and connecting all resources in society to build a scholarship fund, each year the scholarship fund of Vinh Linh district mobilizes about 3.5 billion VND. Vinh Linh district currently has over 1,500 students in difficult circumstances. The effective management and use of the scholarship fund has contributed to supporting more than 3,000 students/year through many forms, encouraging them to continue to overcome difficulties and excel in their studies.
Also from the scholarship fund, the Vinh Linh District Scholarship Association also provides equipment, computers, televisions, and additional facilities for teaching and learning at schools, with priority given to mountainous areas and coastal areas such as Vinh O, Vinh Khe, Vinh Ha, Vinh Thai, Vinh Giang communes...
In addition, every year, the Steering Committee for building a learning society in the district awards the “Pink Lotus” prize to outstanding individuals in the movement “Study well - Work creatively - Live culturally” and recommends the District People’s Committee to reward individuals who are typical workers. From 2008 to now, with 17 times of organization, a total of over 680 individuals including students, teachers, managers, civil servants, businessmen, and workers have been rewarded.
