The index completely lost its support momentum when large-cap stocks turned to decline. Selling pressure increased sharply, focusing mainly on stocks related to Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, along with banking and securities codes, creating quite a lot of pressure on the general index.

The Vietnamese stock market experienced a volatile trading week. At the beginning of the week, the VN-Index was under strong downward pressure to the 1,617 point area, but then recovered to around the 1,675 point area.

Liquidity continued to dry up as all three exchanges failed to surpass VND28,000 billion. Meanwhile, foreign investors maintained a net selling position throughout the week, with a total value of nearly VND3,200 billion, up nearly 23% from the previous week.

The remaining cash flow in the market is still actively looking for stocks that have not yet seen a significant increase, such as rubber, telecommunications and oil and gas. Therefore, in the wave of widespread decline, there are still many stocks that are going against the general trend and becoming bright spots.

Commenting with Tuoi Tre, Mr. Huynh Anh Huy - CFA, Director of Industry Analysis of Kafi Securities - said that with the groups of stocks that have fallen sharply, these are also the groups that have increased very strongly in the previous few months. Some stocks have doubled or even tripled from the old price base, causing the market price of many stocks to far exceed the real value of the business.

The cash flow leaving this group of stocks will help the stocks find their balance in value, as well as shift the upward trend to the groups of stocks that have not increased. And this is an inevitable trend of cash flow restructuring that must take place.

"In this trend, the valuation level of stock groups will become more even and opportunities in the market, although relatively few, still exist for investors to seize the opportunity to restructure their portfolios," said Mr. Huy.

According to expert Quach Anh Khanh - Vietcombank Securities (VCBS), in the context of strong market fluctuations, investors need to prioritize risk management, specifically continue to closely monitor market developments, review portfolios and resolutely restructure, especially for positions that have reached the stop-loss threshold.

Preserving purchasing power and maintaining a stable mentality in the current context will help investors take better advantage of market recoveries to restructure their portfolios and seek short-term profits.
