Lo River dike breach through Tuyen Quang - Dike patching work is urgently underway

On the evening of September 10, informing reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Giang Tuan Anh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Duong District confirmed that the Lo River dike section through Quyet Thang Commune had broken due to high river water. Currently, the dike patching work is being urgently deployed.

“The broken dike section is about 10m long, bordering Hop Nhat commune of Doan Hung district, Phu Tho . Previously, there were signs of water leakage at this location, so the work of evacuating people in the area at risk of being affected was carried out, so there were no human casualties.

Currently, response work is being actively deployed by forces and people," said Mr. Giang Tuan Anh.

At 10pm, hundreds of residents and authorities were still urgently moving bags of soil to the site of the broken dike. Many trucks carrying rocks and excavators were also mobilized to the scene to respond to the incident.

In recent days, due to the influence of storm No. 3, heavy rain in Tuyen Quang province combined with Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant opening all 8 bottom spillway gates has caused floodwaters on Lo River to rise, causing inundation in many areas.

In the urgent flood news on Lo River and Gam River from Tuyen Quang Province's Hydrometeorological Station on the evening of September 10, the flood situation on rivers in the area is still complicated. The flood disaster risk warning level is at level 3.
