Boxer Ninh Hai Anh (below) won against Nguyen Van Linh. |
The first match of the new MMA Ground Fight format at Lion Championship took place on the evening of April 12 in Hanoi, featuring an exciting match between two "veterans" Ninh Hai Anh (43 years old) and Nguyen Van Linh (35 years old). Both fighters are experts in jiu-jitsu.
Ninh Hai Anh was more proactive in the first round. At the end of the round, the 43-year-old boxer created a chokehold on his opponent. However, he could not successfully execute a choke to knock him out or force him to admit defeat.
In the second round, the two fighters entered the fight cautiously, not rushing to pull their opponents to the floor, causing the referee to have to warn them. It was not until less than 20 seconds of the round left that Nguyen Van Linh took the initiative to attack, but was unsuccessful.
The final round was more exciting. Nguyen Van Linh knocked his opponent to the floor but could not gain the upper hand. Ninh Hai Anh then showed his experience with chokes from the ground.
At the end of 3 rounds, neither fighter could knock out or force the opponent to surrender. The referee determined that Ninh Hai Anh won by consensus. This was a reasonable result because the 43-year-old fighter was the one who performed more lethal chokes in the ground battles.
Ninh Hai Anh (born 1982) is a fitness and jiu-jitsu coach in Hanoi. He has practiced jiu-jitsu since the early days when the sport was introduced to Vietnam.
However, this fighter's main job is... selling pho. Before his first professional MMA match, Ninh Hai Anh said he still kept his work schedule at his family's pho restaurant. This athlete revealed that he usually only sleeps about 4 hours a day, wakes up at 3am to set up the stall, cook pho, then sell and serve until noon.
"My martial arts training goals at the beginning and now are very different. I used to be very fat, my training goal was just to lose weight. During the training process, I was attracted by martial arts moves, inspired by my teacher and teammates. Now, I want to pass on to the younger generation, those who do not know about jiu-jitsu and MMA, to learn more about these martial arts," martial artist Ninh Hai Anh said about his decision to enter the ring at the age of 43.
