The victim was identified as Mr. LVT (born in 1959, residing in Hamlet 4, Ma Da Commune, Vinh Cuu District). Mr. T.'s body was discovered by locals at around 6:00 a.m. the same day, in a cajuput and mango plantation, about 100 meters from his house.
Previously, at around 4:00 p.m. on June 2, local people discovered a herd of about 4 elephants moving into the field area destroying crops at Group 1, Hamlet 4, Ma Da Commune, near Cay Gui Forest Ranger Station, bordering the natural forest of Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve.

After destroying the crops, the elephants returned to the natural forest. However, at around 9 p.m. the same day, the elephants returned to Mr. T's farm (Group 2, Hamlet 4). At this time, Mr. T went to the farm to chase away the elephants to protect his property.
On the morning of June 3, when his relatives did not see Mr. T. return home, local people organized a search and discovered that he had died in the plantation area, with signs of being trampled by an elephant. The incident was immediately reported to the local authorities, the Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve Forest Rangers and the Vinh Cuu District Forest Rangers.
Currently, the police and the People's Procuracy of Vinh Cuu district have coordinated to conduct a crime scene investigation to clarify the cause of the incident.
According to authorities, initial assessment is that the cause of the incident may have been a conflict when people chased away elephants.
It is known that this is not the first time that conflicts between elephants and humans have occurred in this area. Recently, wild elephants from Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve have continuously gone out, causing damage to many households.
Currently, the authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the incident, and are coordinating with local authorities and related units to deploy warning and propaganda measures to limit the risk of conflict between wild elephants and people in areas bordering natural forests.
