On May 7, speaking at a reception for Ambassador Vu Trung My, Venezuelan Sports Minister Franklin Cardillo affirmed his desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in the field of sports, especially the introduction of Vovinam - Vietnamese martial arts into official teaching in Venezuela, thereby making this South American country the first in Latin America to have a Vovinam martial arts school.
Minister Franklin Cardillo stated that in implementing the will of the late President Hugo Chavez, Venezuela is vigorously implementing a strategy to build a national sports foundation, ensuring that all people have access to physical education and sports activities to improve the quality of life.
In addition to the benefits of improving public health, Mr. Franklin Cardillo said the above policy also contributes to discovering and nurturing young sports talents, bringing Venezuela further and further on the world sports map.
This country of 28 million people is currently among the six Latin American countries with high achievements at the Olympics.

Notably, Venezuelans, especially the youth, are increasingly fond of martial arts not only for the health benefits but also for training willpower, courage and self-defense skills. Therefore, Vovinam - a combination of martial arts and personalityeducation - will certainly be warmly welcomed by the Venezuelan people.
Affirming that the Ministry of Sports will direct the development of a cooperation plan with Vietnam to soon bring Vovinam to Venezuela, Minister Franklin Cardillo said that in the immediate future, Vovinam masters will be invited to introduce this martial art, and at the same time organize training classes, train Vovinam masters and coaches, and move towards bringing Vovinam teaching nationwide.

Learners not only train physical strength (body) but also cultivate morality and spiritual qualities (mind). This creates a balance between strength and compassion.
According to Ambassador Vu Trung My, Vovinam has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism since 2023. Currently, Vovinam has attracted more than 2 million students in more than 70 countries and territories around the world.
In addition, Vietnam is preparing a dossier to submit to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for Vovinam to be recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
