With limited socio -economic conditions, children in mountainous provinces often face many difficulties in accessing education and lack essential learning facilities such as solidly built schools, books or other learning materials. Understanding this, VPBank and Mastercard have just cooperated to implement the initiative "Building Hope, Building the Future", to provide support and promote a sustainable educational journey for children in difficult circumstances.
The initiative was launched with the first Mastercard Kids Run 2023 for children held in Hanoi on October 7. With the cooperation of VPBank Mastercard cardholders, this initiative will contribute to the “Couple of Loving Leaves” program through the Tam Long Viet Fund - Vietnam Television (VTV), with the goal of building 10 schools, kitchens and purchasing school supplies and food for children in difficult circumstances in remote areas of Vietnam.
Specifically, in October and November 2023, for every transaction made with a VPBank Mastercard debit or credit card of VND 300,000 or more, Mastercard will contribute VND 7,100 to the Tam Long Viet Fund to sponsor the “Pair of Loving Leaves” program. The “Pair of Loving Leaves” program will conduct surveys in localities in need and connect with initiatives to build or renovate schools.
VPBank and Mastercard cooperate to implement the initiative "Building Hope, Building the Future", supporting disadvantaged children in the highlands of Vietnam.
“With a vision and mission to contribute to the sustainable development and prosperity of Vietnam, we understand the importance of nurturing the next generation. VPBank has cooperated with the program “A pair of loving leaves” to build 30 schools in the past year and now we are very pleased to expand this cooperation to our strategic partner Mastercard. VPBank believes that together we can improve learning conditions and facilities in remote areas of the country, support children in difficult circumstances, help them access basic education to develop their abilities” - Ms. Nguyen Thuy Duong, Director of Communications and Marketing Center, representative of VPBank said.
Ms. Winnie Wong, Country Manager for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos of Mastercard shared: “Mastercard is committed to the mission of “Doing Well by Doing Good” as a guideline for all activities to support people, communities and the environment in the markets where the company is operating. Mastercard is delighted to accompany VPBank in the “Building Hope, Building Future” initiative, helping disadvantaged children access better conditions and resources to study and seize opportunities for a bright future. This cooperation initiative helps disadvantaged students fully develop their potential, while at the same time, creating opportunities for cardholders to join hands to help these children. In the future, Mastercard and VPBank look forward to exploring new cooperation opportunities, leveraging resources and technology to better support individuals and communities in need.”
The Mastercard Kids Run 2023 is the kick-off event of the joint initiative “Building Hope, Building Futures”.
With the same vision of sustainable development to benefit the local community and society, VPBank and Mastercard this year set common goals to create opportunities and conditions for future generations to grow and develop, starting with the Mastercard Kids Run held on October 7, 2023, attracting more than 500 children and more than 10,000 spectators. The 600m marathon was held in the Hoan Kiem Lake area, providing a useful playground for young athletes to explore the historical landmarks of the capital. In addition, the run also helps to nurture essential self-development skills and healthy exercise habits to shape future physical and mental development.
