(Dan Tri) - The People's Committee of Cau Giay District ( Hanoi ) requested the District Police to strictly handle the case of a female maid abusing a 1-month-old boy, causing outrage.

On December 18, Ms. Trinh Thi Dung, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Cau Giay District (Hanoi), said that the authorities had received information that a one-month-old boy in Nghia Do Ward had been repeatedly abused by a maid.

Cau Giay District People's Committee has requested the District Police to investigate and strictly handle the maid.

"The district's stance is to handle the matter strictly. The woman returned to her hometown in Tuyen Quang after the incident. The authorities are contacting and inviting this person to come in for questioning," said Ms. Dung.

Previously, Ms. HY (35 years old, Nghia Do ward) filed a complaint with the ward police about her 1-month-old son being abused by the maid.

Reviewing all the camera data, the mother discovered that the maid NTL (57 years old) often hit the child's body hard, shook her from side to side, and then threw her onto the bed.

"I never expected that the first time I hired a maid, I would witness such cruel acts towards a child," Ms. Y. was indignant.

According to her, every time she hit the child, Ms. L. chose to sit with her back to the camera. When she was hired, the maid knew that the family had installed a camera in the child's room.

After the incident, the landlord immediately paid her salary and asked Ms. L. to leave his house. The maid and her relatives called to apologize, however, Ms. Y.'s family did not want to reconcile, and did not want this woman to hide her identity and have the opportunity to continue to "attack" other children.

The family took the boy to the National Children's Hospital for a check-up. After X-rays and tests, the doctor said that no abnormalities were found but that they needed to monitor the baby shaken. The boy was still young, so the family took him home and waited for a follow-up check-up in a few days.

This is not the first time that children have been abused by nannies, maids, and babysitters. According to the Ministry of Public Security's 2024 report on the implementation of children's rights, acts of child abuse and violence have many potential complex developments. Acts committed by family members or acquaintances account for over 60% of child abuse cases.

There are many cases of children being abused and mistreated by those directly caring for and raising them at child protection facilities and child care and nurturing facilities (licensed and unlicensed) with the number of children being cared for exceeding the registered number.
