Ship sinking at sea in Ha Tinh: 11 crew members rescued

On the afternoon of May 26, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Director of Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority, said that by about 1:30 p.m. the same day, the rescue forces had successfully rescued all 11/11 crew members of the ship Cong Thanh 07 that sank at sea.

Currently, the health of all crew members is stable. Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority announced the end of search and rescue operations for the incident of the ship Cong Thanh 07.

As reported by SGGP Newspaper, previously, at 8:40 p.m. on May 25, Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority received information from the ship Cong Thanh 07 (registration number TB-2668) carrying coal, while traveling from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh , it encountered an incident that caused the ship to tilt, water flooded into the ship at the position: 18º06'53" N; 106º30'30" E and was showing a tendency to continue to tilt.

After receiving the information, Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority instructed the crew on safety measures and contacted relevant units to promptly deploy possible support measures.

At 9:30 p.m. the same day, the Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority could not contact the captain. Through the ship monitoring system, the VTS system and information from ships, it was reported that the crew had left the ship and the ship sank afterwards. Location of the sunken ship: 18 0 06'53" North latitude; 106 0 30'30" East longitude.

At the time of the accident, the ship was about 6-7 nautical miles from Vung Ang - Son Duong port (Ky Loi commune, Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh province).

The Cong Thanh 07 ship had a gross tonnage of 5,162.5 tons. Before sinking, there were 11 crew members on board and more than 4,932 tons of coal.

As soon as receiving the information, the authorities deployed many means to organize rescue.

Currently, relevant agencies and units are taking steps to investigate the cause of the accident.
