Also in the busy atmosphere of the harvest season, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien - Director of Vinh Phuong Agricultural Cooperative (Nha Trang City) said that out of the 170 hectares of the cooperative, most of them are planted with Dai Thom 8 and Trang Nong 15 rice varieties. These are rice varieties that produce high-quality, delicious rice grains, so the selling price is higher than that of regular rice. Not only does the yield reach 7 tons/ha, this fragrant rice variety is also purchased at the field for more than 9,000 VND/kg, at times up to 9,800 VND/kg, an increase of nearly 2,000 VND/kg compared to the winter-spring crop last year. Thanks to the high price and good harvest, farmers growing high-quality rice of the cooperative earn a profit of more than 40 million VND/ha.
In Dien Khanh district, according to Mr. Le Van Hung - Director of Dien Loc Agricultural Cooperative (Binh Loc commune), with a methodical form of organizing rice seed production, the entire rice output is purchased by the enterprise with a clear and strict economic contract. This year, the cooperative's 300 hectares of rice yielded up to 75 quintals/ha, an increase of 15 quintals/ha compared to usual. The average rice purchase price reached 9,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to last year. According to statistics, this year, farmers in the province planted more than 19,300 hectares of winter-spring rice, down about 0.62% compared to last year because some rice areas were affected by investment projects. Since the beginning of the crop, rice has grown and developed in quite favorable conditions of weather and irrigation water, so the average yield is estimated at nearly 65 quintals/ha, an increase of 2 quintals/ha compared to the winter-spring crop last year. Along with that, the rice purchase price has also increased, the rice is purchased right at the field as it is harvested, so in general, farmers have a good rice crop.
Through discussions with leaders of several agricultural cooperatives, the winter-spring rice harvest will end in the next few days. After May 15, cooperatives will begin to prepare the land and sow the first crop of summer-autumn rice in early June.

With the drought situation, the amount of water stored in lakes and dams is not too abundant and it is forecasted that this year the risk of prolonged heat and local water shortages may occur in the province. Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, in the past time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and localities have deployed many solutions to limit the negative impacts of drought on people's lives and production. Regarding the organization of the upcoming summer-autumn rice production, specialized agencies focus on advising people to use short-term varieties with good yield, quality, and drought resistance; adjust the sowing schedule appropriately and only produce in areas with proactive water sources; strictly follow the instructions of the competent authorities in the spirit of focusing on land preparation, sowing and transplanting reasonably and simultaneously to save water. For the fields that have been harvested, farmers focus on cleaning the fields, preparing the soil to sow the summer-autumn crop according to the crop schedule.
