Cultivating political qualities for lecturers and teachers

On the morning of October 30, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission and the Ministry of Education and Training organized the 2024 Political Theory Training Course for lecturers and teachers of political theory; staff working in student affairs; and the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union at universities, colleges, and intermediate schools in the national education system.

The course takes place over two days, October 30-31, in person and online nationwide.

Opening the Course, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Ngo Dong Hai emphasized that 2025 will be a year of many major holidays, and at the same time, it will be a year of organizing party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party. This is the time when the country enters an era of prosperity, civilization, and wealth. 2025 also sets out many important tasks, including implementing Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development; associated with promoting and improving the quality of political theory education in the national education system. This year also summarizes 10 years of implementing Conclusion No. 94-KL/TW of the Secretariat on continuing to innovate the study of political theory in the national education system.

In recent times, political theory education has achieved many positive results. Educational institutions nationwide have focused on innovating content and teaching methods, improving the quality of teachers and lecturers, and teachers themselves have also made great efforts in this work. Methods of acquiring and approaching political theory education knowledge have also been innovated. Therefore, the quality and effectiveness of imparting political theory knowledge have been gradually improved, contributing to fostering ideology, political capacity and confidence for students.

However, according to Mr. Ngo Dong Hai, the practice of political theory education still has many issues that need attention. Some programs and teaching contents have not kept up with the new context and new requirements; the content of the curriculum and teaching methods are still heavily theoretical and not linked to practice; the updating of new information and theories is still slow, not meeting the learning and training needs of learners in the current context.

Therefore, the 2025 training course will not only help lecturers and teachers update new contents in the Party's resolutions, policies and orientations, especially the 7 strategic resolutions and the 13th Central Conference Resolution, but also prepare their mindset, thoughts and actions for the 14th National Party Congress. This is also an opportunity for the political theory teaching team to exchange experiences, share good practices and effective methods in teaching and practical work.

In the coming time, the work of political theory education will certainly continue to receive special attention, leadership and close direction from the Party, the State and the Party committees and authorities at all levels. Because this is a key area in fostering the mettle, ideology, belief and revolutionary ideals for the young generation - the next generation of the cause of building and defending the Fatherland - Mr. Ngo Dong Hai emphasized.

In order for the training course to be highly effective, the Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission requested the Organizing Committee to carefully prepare the necessary conditions, ensuring that the program takes place on schedule, with quality and effectiveness. At the same time, it is necessary to closely coordinate with training institutions and competent agencies in managing and guiding trainees, creating an open and serious learning and exchange environment. Party committees at all levels and leaders of educational institutions continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for lecturers, staff, union members and students to study, practice and fully participate in the training program.

For students, each person needs to clearly define their responsibilities and have a serious attitude towards learning, considering this a valuable opportunity to improve their theoretical level, foster political thinking, update new knowledge, absorb current information, policies and guidelines of the Party, and legal policies of the State; thereby flexibly and creatively applying them to teaching and practice at the unit.

During the two days of study, students will listen to Professor, Dr. Le Van Loi, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences , present the topics: "Continuing to perfect the theory of the Party's innovation path in the new development era", "The team of lecturers and teachers teaching political theory with the task of protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new context".

Dr. Doan Van Bau, Director of the Department of Political Theory, Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, presented the topics "Identifying, fighting, and refuting erroneous and hostile viewpoints to protect the Party's ideological foundation in the new context" and "Information on the strategic and important policies of the Politburo to contribute to the successful implementation of the two 100-year goals in the era of strong and prosperous development of the nation".

Dr. Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Student Association presented the topic "Education of ideals, ethics, and cultural lifestyle for students today"...
