On the evening of July 17, at the Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology in Ho Chi Minh City, a meeting and award ceremony was held for doctors and nurses from southern hospitals who participated in the health check-up for soldiers and civilians on Truong Sa archipelago in 2025.
Under the direction of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, a special medical delegation consisting of leading doctors, nurses and technicians from the Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology of Ho Chi Minh City, Thong Nhat Hospital and Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine successfully completed a volunteer trip to Truong Sa archipelago from June 14 to July 4.
With the close coordination of the Naval Medical Institute and Ship 561, Brigade 995, Naval Region 4, the working group of 32 doctors, nurses and technicians overcame the long journey at sea to Truong Sa archipelago.
They visited, provided health check-ups, distributed free medicine and provided health care advice to officers, soldiers and people on 9 islands of the Truong Sa archipelago including: Da Nam, Son Ca, Nam Yet, Sinh Ton Dong, Nui Le, Toc Tan, An Bang, Truong Sa Dong, Da Lat.
Representing 32 doctors and medical staff who examined the health of soldiers and civilians on Truong Sa archipelago, Dr. Bui Le Dan Thanh (Department of Refractive Surgery, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine) expressed his honor and pride in taking care of the health of people, officers and soldiers on the island.
"The 21 days of taking care of soldiers and civilians on the islands became an unforgettable memory. We witnessed the difficulties and perseverance of our soldiers and civilians in the process of building our homeland's islands," Dr. Thanh emotionally shared.

Rear Admiral Le Ba Quan - Deputy Commander of the Navy - still remembers the image of doctors and nurses from hospitals and Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University volunteering to examine and provide medicine to soldiers and civilians on Truong Sa island.
"It can be said that doctors and nurses are silent heroes, not afraid of difficulties and hardships, temporarily putting aside their personal and family lives to bring faith and health to soldiers and people on remote islands," the deputy commander of the Navy shared.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the Party Committee, Board of Directors of Thong Nhat Hospital, Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology of Ho Chi Minh City and Board of Directors of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine for being ready to coordinate with the Navy to organize medical examination and treatment, and provide medicine for soldiers and civilians on remote islands of the Fatherland.
According to Mr. Loc, the trip to Truong Sa is not only a memory but also a profound experience, becoming a source of motivation for medical staff to live and work better.
In fact, during the 21 days at sea, even when facing harsh, high-intensity and high-pressure environments, the spirit and working attitude of the doctors and nurses were always maintained with all their heart.
The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee suggested that it is necessary to continue summarizing and drawing lessons to improve the quality and effectiveness of similar activities, not stopping at initial success but continuously improving.
The Navy awarded certificates of merit to 3 groups and 28 individuals with outstanding achievements in performing the task of providing health examinations for soldiers and people on Truong Sa archipelago in 2025.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also awarded certificates of merit to 6 individuals who actively participated in taking care of the health of soldiers and people in Truong Sa archipelago.
