The above information was provided by the Ca Mau Provincial Department of Finance at a press conference on the socio -economic situation in the first nine months of the year. Accordingly, GRDP increased by 7.53% compared to the same period last year, with the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector increasing by 5.40%; industry and construction by 8.56%; the service sector by 9.18%; and product taxes less product subsidies increasing by 7.26%. Total fisheries production reached over 112,000 tons, equivalent to 71.5% of the target, with shrimp production reaching 58,100 tons, an increase of 8.2% compared to the same period last year.

Agricultural production in Ca Mau province remained stable and developed well during the first nine months of the year.
Agriculture is developing well.
According to the Ca Mau Provincial Department of Finance, despite adverse natural disasters affecting rice and shrimp production for farmers and fishermen, aquaculture and shrimp production have increased thanks to the initial application of solutions to improve productivity and output in improved extensive farming and super-intensive recirculating aquaculture. Many farming areas have achieved international certifications (ASC, BAP, Organic), enhancing the brand of Ca Mau shrimp.
The total aquaculture area of the province over the first nine months reached more than 422,700 hectares; of which, the area for intensive and super-intensive shrimp farming was over 34,500 hectares, the area for improved extensive shrimp farming was 197,000 hectares (exceeding the plan by 3.7%, an increase of 5% compared to the same period last year); and the area for combined extensive farming (shrimp-mangrove, shrimp-rice, shrimp-crab-fish, etc.) was over 184,800 hectares.
Notably, at this time, the prices of tiger prawns and whiteleg prawns have increased compared to the same period last year (up from 20,000 to 27,000 VND/kg), bringing joy to prawn farmers due to a bumper harvest and favorable prices. Meanwhile, the area for freshwater fish farming reached 26,500 hectares, while the area for saltwater and brackish water fish farming exceeded 380,800 hectares. The area for farming freshwater fish, cage-farmed fish, blood cockles, and clams has also increased. This shows that when prices rise and product outlets are stable and profitable, it stimulates farmers to increase their income and improve their family's living standards.

Shrimp farming output has increased thanks to the initial implementation of productivity-enhancing solutions.
Overall, agricultural production remained stable and developed well. Cumulative rice planting covered over 282,600 hectares (89.7% of the plan, a 7% increase compared to the same period last year), with an average yield of 6.04 tons/ha. The total summer-autumn rice production reached over 1,677,000 tons. Although the harvest was bountiful, there were periods when rice prices plummeted to only 5,500 VND/kg, causing hardship for farmers due to increased costs. Many households only broke even or made a meager profit.
Faced with the paradox of "bumper harvest, falling prices" for rice, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province has directed departments, agencies, and localities to promote research, application, and transfer of advanced technologies to help farmers reduce production costs. At the same time, the province has requested strengthened agricultural extension work, organized field workshops, and replicated effective production models that both contribute to environmental protection and increase the value and yield of rice. In addition, the province has issued 219 planting area codes and continues to implement the Project on 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice linked to green growth.
Exports increased significantly.
According to the finance sector, the supply and demand of essential goods are ensured, with abundant and diverse products in terms of design, guaranteed quality, and relatively stable prices. There is no shortage or scarcity of goods, meeting the needs of consumers and serving production and business activities for the people. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached VND 161,524 billion (equivalent to 78.4% of the plan).
Goods exports increased significantly, mainly focusing on seafood and fertilizers. Export turnover in the third quarter is estimated at US$1,892.2 million (72.8% of the plan). Seafood exports are estimated at US$1,720.6 million (71.2%, a 3.5% increase compared to the same period last year); fertilizer exports are estimated at US$129.6 million (92.6%); and other goods are estimated at US$3.5 million…
